This. I've played the campaign through 4 or 5 times and I've gotten more information about the story through these videos than playing the game. While otherwise this kind of storytelling could be genius, giving small snippets and hints about character all the time, this style does not really lend itself well on this type of game. The information given is almost always insignificant to the immediate action and there's always so much to distract the focus from listening the conversations that it is almost impossible to pay attention to them. This kind of storytelling works much better in movies or cinematic interactive games like Heavy Rain or Detroit but not really in action heavy open world game where you can't even drive a car without something more important happening around you.

Also, at the contract DLC mission, you break into the FIB building the same way you do on the rooftoop approach of Bureau Raid. And to be fair, I think it would be very stupid for the headquarters of a security agency (which is supposed to be one of the most well secured places in the world) to let it be invaded the same way twice without them improving security at the rooftop from the first attack. Which leads me to believe that Fire Crew is the canon option.

Lamar's surprise disappearance could be an oversight related to his actor's unavailability to record and perform. Maybe they scripted something but never recorded or subtitled it and it just slipped everyone's minds until the game was what it was.

Tao Cheng is not the only one who could be optionally killed and then appears in Online, there's also the agent ULP that could be killed during the Wrap Up mission. Interestingly, he appears in Online even dispite his original voice actor passing away

Not exactly. Brad wrote letters to Trevor. As stated by Dave that the trainees write them. I think the emails we see exchanged between him and Trevor are more to just make it convenient for the player. Instead of actually writing a letter and posting it to the prison, here send an email.

43:04 Little logistical problem with this, Jimmy would've been in the 3rd grade in North Yankton. While it is possible that the teacher also moved to Los Santos, and then Amanda slept with him, I think a more likely explanation is that she cheated back in North Yankton, and Michael just didn't know about it, and by the time of Reuniting The Family, Michael was just too tired to get upset with her over it. It is a bit unusual for her to mention someone from 12 years ago, but it's entirely possible she felt it was the time to come clean about all of her cheating

Another banger. Honestly, I love these videos. You can really tell that a lot of research and effort went into these. From big things like finding cut content to little things like the recordings of car conversations and radio broadcasts. You could have easily just overlaid audio over a background, but you went through the effort of capturing footage of those things specifically. It goes a long way, and as a viewer, I appreciate it.

I like to think that Lester figured out Michael was still alive by tracking Amanda, Tracey and Jimmy. He knew they were still alive, and since he split the score from the Big Score Heist to include them in Option B it's fair to assume he respects Michael's family. Also, as to which ending is canon: in GTA Online, Tao Cheng explicitly says he was nearly killed at the place where Franklin shoots his father in Option C. This does only imply it happens (what's to say he had a different near-death experience?), but it's the only evidence implying one particular ending happened rather than saying different endings _didn't_ happen.

My theory for the Humane labs thing is that’s the perfume story is obviously a cover up and possible the “animal activist attack” is a cover for you robbing it in GTA Online. Even if that wasn’t planned it’s kinda my head cannon now

Its crazy how much Matt knows abaout gta v. This whole lore video is amazing!! I never thought i'd be watching lore videos on gta v but here we are. Its a very good story fair play to rockstar for creating it and fair play to Matt for figuering out the lore and hidden details. Theres so much i didnt know which i now do. Fascinating :)

Haven't finished the vid yet, but I just wanted to say my favorite unsung character in the game is Floyd. His entire arc is both tragic and absolutely hilarious. Deb's apartment slowly degrading over time as Trevor settles in. Trevor convincing Floyd his life is terrible when, on paper, it was pretty damn good and ordinary. The climax of Trevor leaving the apartment covered in blood xD its too good

I have beaten GTA 5’s Main story over 30 times and gotten 100% completion at least 13 times. I thought I would never play through it again from being burnt out, but this man’s videos of his 10,000 lore have gotten me playing it again. i’m actually enjoying paying attention to every little detail.
