The follow up video showing what work gloves I ended up using through the winter and which ones performed the best in my opinion. I was limited on selection and style of glove to use but after a few weeks there was one that was clearly better than the other.

I like the all leather style glove as well. You need to throw some leather conditioner/waterproofer on them! I use a combination of neatsfoot oil and beeswax!👍

Thanks Dan, I would say the same for the Stihl gloves I had. Currently using my best pair yet, $10 Camel hide gloves from the PA farm show. I bought 2 pair, the first ripped in a matter of weeks, the second is right about two years old. I meant to get a lifetime supply this year but am now realizing I must wait until next January.

I try spraying my gloves down with a boot silicone spray or leather sealer. Seams to keep dry, not shrink and keeps them from getting stiff.

Good video Dan, but...I am cheapest of the cheap. Back when you could get WellsLamont handy Andy's for about 50 cents I bought about 200 pair. I take 2 or 3 pair and when they get wet change to dry pair. I do have pig skin gloves for fencing and summer work, nothing tougher.

Thanks for the review on the wells Lamont gloves Dan. I almost bought some when I couldn't find the Kinko pigskin brand that Chris in the woodyard uses. Fortunately I did find the kinko brand online and used them for everything this winter. They did hold up well and kept our hands warm.

I just buy the Latex Coated Work Gloves. They are not warm at all thou. I would use a liner in them but my hands are very large and the xxl will barely fit. My brother loves it when I buy a nice pair of leather work gloves and they get wet...shrunken gloves go to him...ha Weather is crazy alright...its almost 70f here and they are predicting snow tomorrow.

I found some goat skin leather gloves at Harbor Freight for $9.99 that I like. The palms are grey leather and the top is nylon. I like them because they didn’t make my hands wet picking up snowy firewood. Since I like them I bought 4 more pairs. They are not as easy to hold onto logs but my hands were dry. Hardy is the brand. 57512 is the item number.

Nice video on gloves Dan.I also had my first pair of Wells Lamont this year. The wife purchased them for me cause I kept passing them up because of the price. They lasted all winter as where the other pair I would be on my 3rd or 4th pair. Now I have the wife on the hunt to find another pair or two.

So far the best glove I've found is the Youngstown Titan XT w/ Kevlar. I have a newer pair and and a well worn pair. They only wore out at the inner finger joints going across but the finger tips are intact. They're the only pair of gloves I have that have the fingertips intact, every other pair splits right down the side or wears through in the middle like you showed. I use them for cutting, stacking, running the splitter, and hand splitting with an 8lb maul, wedges, sledges, and fiskars splitting axes. I still do a fair amount of hand splitting every year so I'm extra rough on gloves.

Interesting show Dan, here is an idea for another. Blindfold yourself and have Amazing Amanda give you several pieces of firewood and see how close you come to guessing the moisture content of them. If you see the wood, that could give you an edge on guessing.

I don't know if you have a "Rural KIng" store in your area, but I have been buying some cloth gloves from this store. They are ugly as sin, but they last really well. They come in bundles of 12, I have found that they last as well or better than some leather gloves.

I've been disappointed with Fleet Farm since not long after the new owners took over. I used to spend a considerate amount of money there, but since they don't seem to have a handle on stocking (even pre-covid) I've been splitting most of that between smaller local retailers and online transactions. I've been using some wells lamont gloves, they are a different style than yours (I can't stand the tight cuff). They've been working great - except when I misplace them. lol
