It’s SO DANGEROUS to put resin in an oven! Please research before you do things like this. There’s a very good reason people aren’t doing it! Resin is TOXIC and at the temp needed to cure clay you’re releasing toxic fumes. Please be responsible when you share your videos. Researching and confirming is important. Ie: this doesn’t demonstrate a Sutton Slice. Perhaps the first part, but not the whole technique; you also didn’t attribute the technique to the inventor.

This is a brilliant technique. The only things with which I would experiment would , be to use translucent clay for the backing and put matte top coat over the design. Or even use translucent clay for the design! So many possibilities!!

I definitely haven't done this before, but that's because I was under the impression that resin products should NOT be baked. Apparently, resin CAN be baked. I wish I had known... but, at least I know now! And I'm glad you were brave enough to challenge the rule. 😂👍

I can’t believe it...you have forced me to have a NEW favorite. Of course turquoise is one of my best colors. My whole house is turquoise and purple, so this was just right up my alley. I have baked clay and resin before. It worked out okay but I did not repeat it as I did not like the anxiety until it was done. :P I saw it in another video ages ago and had to try it with my resin. That said unless I think something up that is super great I won't be trying it again. :P - Heidi

I’ve been making ‘Petrie’ style cabochons from epoxy and then setting them in polymer clay - they bake just fine. I tent them to be on the safe side. They are of course thicker pieces. I know if you try to dome with epoxy it will curl back off with the heat. UV works fine though 😊

It's for shaping fillings, usually amalgam... can't recall the name... maybe on your next dental visit you can find out a name. Probably '(something) carver'. It's been a few years since I was in the business and most names elude me now. :)

After you baked the piece, was there any change to the surface of your resin? The camera didn't really pick up whether there was. I had a UV resin cab that I wanted to put a polymer clay bezel on. The resin baked OK, and didn't lose any shape or transparency, but the surface wasn't as smooth after baking. It really needed a topcoat of the UV resin, and then it looked fine. I don't have a photo of the final piece, I'll have to try to take one sometime.

I had no problem with the resin surface. It remained the same as before baking. Only once, after baking, did the polymer clay detach from the resin and I put something heavy on top as it cooled and the pieces stuck together again.

@@Sundiyday Interesting. Perhaps I'm using a different brand of UV resin. Either way, I love that you can bake UV resin! I'm told that you shouldn't bake the 2-part resins, I haven't tried using those yet.
