"You don't need brakes when you're racing, all they do is slow you down" Good one. I admit, I don't think I've ever heard that one before? I like it, gave me a good chuckle first thing in the morning!

That runs really smooth. Towne and Country Harley Davidson has a really nice collection of bike's but nothing like your museum. I have to get down there and see all of classic memories.

Love this series! Especially this one b/c I purchased 2 bikes from Harry. My 1st - 1974 Sportster. 2nd- 1976 FXE Superglide. Harry was in the store a lot even then. His wife worked there too. Put 100.00 down & came in once a week w/ another 100, til the bike came in. Harry gave me a payment book so that the weekly payments were written down, by him each time. He loved talking about the "old days" of racing. They did ice racing at a local lake near here as well. Many pics of those days pinned to the walls behind the counters. Thanks!

I think the fact that Harley was able to build their 41 was due to their war effort and all the bikes they produce that were never street bikes so they were allowed to produce non-road going race bikes as well

America didnt enter the war until very late in 1941, there was nearly a whole year of unrestricted civilian sales and production before the attack on Pearl even happened.

Not vintage but you need two bikes one of these www.odd-bike.com/2013/07/fischer-mrx-korean-american-supersport.html and one of these, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motus_MST before they get to hard to find. It will help with the younger crowd. Replace the voltage regulator on the Fischer with a MOSFET the biggest issue.

I saw a reproduction at the Guggenheim's Art of the Motorcycle in Memphis, TN in 2005. The exhibit catalog said there were 2 original bikes make at Fonda's direction after purchasing old police bikes from LA. One was destroyed during filming, the other was stolen from a storage area before the movie was released. It was probably chopped and parted out before the thieves even knew what they had. There are likely unknown pieces on 60's and 70's bikes still on the road.
