10 ай бұрынI could not miss today metal detecting this old overgrown New England farm field. I have been relic hunting this spot for many years but for some reason today the signals were just jumping out at me. This old farm goes back to the 1700s and was lived upon up into the 1930's so there is always interesting stuff to dig up out of the ground. Buttons, watch winder, huge crotal bell, hame knob, shoe buckles coins you name it and it has been found here. With so much history at an old place likes swinging my Fisher F19 I hit the cellar hole, rock walls, old well, cart paths and everywhere in-between. This was a great day metal detecting relic hunting.

There is a likelihood that the copper wire is not baling wire. Over the past 100 years, that stranded copper type wire would have been used in a house electrical wiring situation, or, what I'm remembering is copper wire used in radio receiving antennas. Even as far back as 100 years ago, steel wire used for radio would corrode too fast for good use, so thicker stranded copper wire was used. I've used very identical copper wire like that for my shortwave radio antennas and a few of my transceivers over the decades. You had some splendid finds today! Well done!

Great day diggin! Thanks for getting me hioked on metal detecting. The SD crew, Hoover boys, Quarter hoarder, Green mountain metal detecting all got me into getting out and trying to save some history. You all are a major reason i have recovered from my heart attack and surgery back in January of 2921. Now i am more mobile and really enjoy detecting better than most anything i have ever done in the past. Thanks again Charlie! You and the SD crew are big inspirations to me!

I had a silver Washington quarter that rang up a 90 last week. It boew my mind with it ringing up a number that high. A month ago i had a Franklin half that only rung up at 74-75.

It's like that here in Okinawa, I go back to a very small area that I did really good and went over it really good a couple of times and three years later, new things pop up, in the bronze coins mostly ..so strange

Baling wire is soft steel and rusts immediately. Some other kind of wire for sure.
