I was born in '96 so I'm not too familiar with the '90s but I definitely loved the '00. Playing GTA San Andreas, watching Drake and Josh, going outside to play hide and seek. Sending notes to each other, texting on a flip phone that didn't die in a day. Being excited to buy from the ice cream man. The day when owning a PSP felt so advanced. Those 40 or 50 songs you played on your mp3 played that had a Gig or less of memory. Definitely good times but I'm also glad Im currently living in the '10s, we have so much power and knowledge in our grasp. Its incredible and while it can be abused, overall I feel the tech we have now is beneficial to society.

People still talk to each other face to face, they don't sit in a small space their whole life with only a computer. I'm a 90's kid (born '86), and while my heart certainly belongs to the decade, I would NOT go back to life before high-speed Internet. I vividly remember not being able to google or wiki practical information on the spot. It was frustrating. Yellow pages and encyclopedias often weren't detailed enough plus you had to get a hold of the current editions, which were constantly being updated. Managing my time and resources with today's technology has honestly improved my quality of life, except for social media. I would strike that in a heartbeat, if only to gain back the interpersonal skills we're losing.
@TheLittleMew9 жыл бұрын
Haha I agree :) born in '84 and remember spending ages in the library researching simple facts in massive encyclopaedias- didn't have internet for most of my life and then when we did it was dial up! By the time you were connected you forgot what you had gone online for in the first place haha! But yeah I miss people be it family or friends, when everyone around is constantly picking up their phone and tablet while talking to you it's disconcerting- and yes, I do it too even though I used to climb trees and whatnot :)
@BessieRiggs9 жыл бұрын
The Little Mew I consider it a good day when I forget my phone at home. I think it would be pretty cool to see how much people would start having actual relationships if we all just took a month away from our internet access at home and smart phones altogether. We could still use a phone for phone purposes, but not messenger and stuff like that. I'm a child of 1981.

In my opinion 2000 - 2006 were very reminiscent of the late 90s but more of a slow dying of the 90s. Internet was popular but not to the extent of today where it has taken over the world like some other worldly invasion. The feel, vibe, technology, television and the way of life was very identical if not the same. All of those popular social networking sites did not exist thus contact with people was more in person. Cell phones and tablets were in its stage of infancy and did not take off at the time. If thats not enough I remember my cousin using landline connection and of course getting annoyed at that person on the line. Further more technology such as computer monitors were cubed just like the 80s and 90s. To conclude the 90s generation had still continued on into the early 2000s just like the early 90s was still the late 80s. Forget about numbers.

The early 2000s were like that as well. In both the 90s and the 00s, I always would knock on the front door of my friends if they wanted to chill. That only stopped when I moved away in 2005, but I'm pretty sure I would have continued that until at least 2006-2007.

I remember when people talked to eachother in person, and didn't live life through their texts. When it was just a tad bit safer to walk around outside, when guys actually had a crush on you and they'd be nervous (like in the video) instead of the "Netflix and Chill" BS... When adopting your own style was cool, instead of everyone looking the same.. Good times.. When technology wasn't completely taking over the world but was there, just enough!

The ending made me sad to see what happened to society. there's a thing called a voice, use it. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, KZfaq, and texting have become our life, me and my friend haven't spoken in a month, all we do is text instead of seeing each other face to face. We look down at our phones more then we do up at the real world we were born into. When our phones die, it means that we have to find our charger to keep our second life running, or maybe it's a sign that your second life has finally come to an end. And now we can enjoy what we actually have. Hanging out with friends instead of face timing and texting, going to the library instead of Google being your books, taking care of pets instead of playing games with your virtual pou, finally letting the sunlight beam down on you instead of breathing in the stale air that you have been breathing in your bedroom

The thing about the 90's was that since it was the last decade before social media, cell phones, texting, and selfies, etc., it was the last decade that people had fully functioning social skills and lived in the moment, and didn't spend the whole day in front of a screen.
@cks7548 Жыл бұрын
I was born on January 10, 1980, and so I grew up in the 90s, and I always thought the 90s sucked. There was no social media in the 90s, internet worked like crap in the 90s, there was no smart phones in the 90s, not many good movies in the 90s, and video games are a lot better today than they were in the 90s. I think today's world is a lot better than it was in the 1990s. I think the 1990s is very overrated.
@hihosh1Ай бұрын
@@cks7548 regarding smart phones definitely agree, people don't realise how difficult it was to contact people. I lived on a smallholding just outside the suburbs and it could be a very lonely time, at the time a normal landline was expensive too. Nowadays it's much easier to be in contact.

Was there still a 90's linger once the 2000's started? I remember doing a bunch of 90's stuff even though I was born on 1996. I listened to 'N Sync, Backstreet Boys, watched shows like Hey Arnold, Ren & Stimpy, and even played cartridge games on the super nintendo during the 2000s. I want to say that I'm really a 90s kid but I wasn't there for the full ride.
@ReptarsaurusRex9 жыл бұрын
I can't say if it lingered or not, cause I was born in '98, but I think it did because I can also relate to most nostalgic stuff in these kinds of "Remember the 90's" videos. I had a gameboy, LOTS of VHS tapes (mostly barbie, lol), I didn't wear scrunchies but my friends did, and so on. these are just a few examples. I think we can say we are like... "late 90's" kids or something. idk.
@Zildjian4599 жыл бұрын
oh there was a great linger of the 90's in the 2000's. i was born in '91 and even though things were transitioning in the 00's, alot of the old 90's stuff was still popular like certain Tv shows, fashion, toys, etc. My brothers were born in the late 90's-early 00's and they remember alot of the things I grew up with. The 90's didn't really go away until about around 2003. But that's just my opinion/observation.

The 90's continue to linger. Heck, you can still see the 80's in everyday life. Think of all the cars you see around you, the clothes some wear. I have shirts I got in the early and mid 90's that look as good today as they did back then, and I still regularly wear them. People still use VHS and listen to tapes. It's not as popular as it once was, but it's still a thing. People still use aol, although on broadband and not dialup (for the most part as some still do). Kids still pass notes in school, paint their nails with markers and do aerobics. My Super Nintendo is still plugged into my old school TV in the bedroom where it has sat untouched since 1997!

I loved how back then you would have to make an effort to talk to your friends over the phone. Or talk in codes via the house phone so mom didn't understand what was happening. The eagerness to meet friends at school the next day cause there was so much to talk about! The meeting up or going to friends place and talking with no distractions. Ok I still go to friend's and we talk. I switch phone on silent but kids now adays....sheesh

I actually appreciate older stuff like game boys, play polemon and watch older shows and I'm only 13 I can't stand candy crush... Now see that's one reason I don't have very many friends people say I'm weird but that's not my problem. How much cleavage you try and show off, how people you been out with, whether or not you've had you're first kiss at the time, if you had the latest apple products...(team android BTW :D)Won't even matter later. I'm glad I realize that now because most kids my age are just sooo messed up...

The 90's look so damn cool, I got butterflies watching the left side. I like a lot in my generation but I think being a teen in the 90's would be fun. The fashion is so damn cool (the hair is an exception, I can't stand blow dry hair), the retro games and giant phones look so cartoony and fun. The exercising routines look less lazy (even though I am lazy) and you actually get to hang with friends and have them stay at home and see the more often instead of texting them emojis.
@waynehayes9129 жыл бұрын
ATRaddi you can have the 90s teen experience right now basically sit in a mall food court, next to a dumpster ,or in front of gas station all day and do nothing.

I'm a guy, born in 92s, so I say I'm a 90s kid. Back then, you had AOL and couldn't go on the computer if you were using the phone. Also waiting 5 mins for a website was fine, now if it's 5 sec we get pissed off. Kids also didn't look like pimps and sluts (just being honest). Though cartoon were crazy violent (especially the Anime), and girls in cartoon often were overly developed if you know what I mean and you didn't have to censor it really. Games didn't have high graphics, but were worth playing. Also WE HAD NAPSTER FOR FREE!!! This one is dirty, but you could search up anything even porn and not risk viruses. Gas was cheap and we (especially me since I was raised Muslim, but a US born citizen) didn't have to deal with being called a terrorist. Hell even boy band like 'N Sync and Backstreet Boys were great. Guys even loved listening to them, now it's Justin Bieber as the great thing which I fucking hate. I say the 90s were the last great generation and maybe the early 00s included. I am so glad to be a 90s kid, and also witness the Superbowl incident with Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson.

@peblezQ9 жыл бұрын
The early 2000s were pretty darn similar. especially because I dressed like the girl in the video, I watched VHS's (Lol, I still do) I played a Nintendo 64 and a Gameboy + Gameboy color, and I used to have that crappy old computer, etc. Honestly, I prefer that over what we have now... :/ Haha, I remember as a kid we would have to come inside for dinner, and then after dinner we'd play outside again until the street lights came on. Oh, and the ice cream trucks were the best! Ahh, good times...

lizchibi4 The 2000s (at least here), had that 90-ish feel until 2006/2007. Born in 1999, still, that feel was still there. Remember it all, when kids were all the afternoon outside, playing, having good time, instead of being locked up in their rooms all day with hashtags, vines and twerking. This generation isn't terrible, but the 90s/2000s were better.

yeah the early 2000's were like the 90's. I still remember wearing slap bracelets, light up sneaker, nintendos (super marios bros) mood rings, etc. But that was when I was younger, around 3-6 and then around 2006-2007 the 90's feel slowly disappeared :/ I miss when my friends like the nintendo...
