Ya You can see Dredd's helm is also damaged but polished at the beginning, showing Dredd commitment to the law while Lex and his team are covered in damage and dirt. Someone in another people pointed this out to me saying "This shows that he and his team are dirty judge not only in their action but their appearance. Showing they have given up the law as virtue."

Ruined the movie Imo. He did not really grow as a character. And the lose your gun and your out is to protect unfit judges. Of all people in all movies Dredd does not nudge you over the finish line. Its antithetical to his character.

Had it not been for Anderson, he would have died in Peach Trees, two crooked judges would still be on the loose with a big payday, and a brutal gang leader would have gone unscathed for all the murder and mayhem she caused. He saw in Anderson what he valued in himself: an uncompromising dedication to justice. For him, that meant The Law. It was more complicated for her, and he realized that she (literally) saw things he didn't. It was only working together and using their strengths, both of them very different people, that they were able to survive and serve justice. That realization is growth for Dredd. His simplistic worldview had been a comfort for him in a ruthless world, but also a crutch. Just as Anderson learned how to harden herself for the harsh realities of being a Judge, Dredd learned that there's more to justice than the letter of the law.

I LOVED that tbh. She's this utterly ruthless gang leader with a small army at her back. But put 4 Judges in front of her, even corrupt ones that she believes are here to help her as long as she pays them..... She knows damn well how scary Judges are and she's got 4 of them standing in front of her. Just that bit of uncertainty. Dredd and a rookie have already caused so much trouble, and now she's brought in 4 more hardened street Judges that could easily turn on her if it benefits them to do so.

I think its possible this is fairly early into Dredd's career or perhaps he only works in one sector of the city, so he is not well known. This is one of those movies I wish we would've had at least one more movie, they could build on his feared reputation from the comics.

Between this and the way Kingpin jammed Bullseyes back into a wall are the two most painful ways to get hurt/die on screen ever.

This would've been the perfect time for Dredd to loot some ammo since this one obviously was still carrying a full pack on his belt. But apparently, Dredd did not which is why he ran out at the firefight with the last bad judge. Only then did he loot some ammo off that last judge.

Yeah, but The Raid 2 wasn't quite as good enough to copy for a Dredd sequel... but seriously, though, Dredd was pretty good in its own right, despite the similarities to The Raid.

Lance McQue I've seen this one before the one with Stallone. This one is more epic. Reminds me of an old school video game. They start at the bottom of the tower, fight they're way through baddies, obstacles and bosses. Never get the supplies when needed and still overcome. Dredd is one bad mofo. I wish they added his counter part like in the one with Stallone tho.

I watched both and imagine them as different parts of a judge's life, the first was Dredd cleaning up corruption and this one is a normal day in the life of a judge.

There's a lot of lore about this and the mega-city. From what the deep-dive fans have said is that this 'Dredd' film is in a Judge Dredd world that is a very 'mature' / older mega-city than the Stallone one (more old world skyscrapers and close-confines). Which is why it's like a concrete suburb with skyscrapers as the city has 'grown out'. So it makes sense the uniforms have become less ornamental and more brutally efficient and armored. The criminals are wise and more ruthless etc.

Urban is an amazing actor.

Hey now, Stallone was a PERFECT Dredd, and the set design was dead on. They made the lawbringer look a lot cooler as well. It's just the plot and direction of that movie that sucked- with a better script, and a director who respected the spirit of the original source material, it would have been a true classic. Seriously, I can't read Dredd comics now without hearing all his lines in Sly's voice, haha
