"don't have so many kids" everyone says. how did my great grand parents have a minimum of 6 kids, and my grandfather was 1 of 13 kids? and no, they didn't have a good paying factory job and weren't wealthy. my great grandfathers were tenement farmers, one drove a truck and one was a carpenter (when being a carpenter might have paid a dime for a day's work.) and no, they didn't live in shantys with a dirt floor or drive a 30 year old car (there were no 30 year old cars in the 1930s.) people today are having less kids than ever (a lot of younger people are having none,) and still can't survive financially in the USA. maybe something else is wrong besides people having children?

Children are just much more expensive nowadays. In the past it was enough to put some food in them, put some hand-me-down clothes on them, let them play outside and they were good. Nowadays that's considered neglect. They need so much more (according to society), and everything costs money. You'll definitely notice the financial difference between 3 and 4 kids. Like this woman says, they need to buy a bigger car, etc. In the past you didn't notice it as much, and you definitely did not buy a bigger car because of an extra child. That means nowadays you have to think extra hard whether you can afford an extra child. And it's totally fine if you don't care about 'moving up' and just want a large family, but in this case these people just can't have both.

For those who do not know Motus car reimbursement that some companies use requires no older than a 5 year old vehicle. They pay you a monthly tax free check plus like .20 per mile. The more you drive the higher the monthly check. You also have to put on a certain amount of miles per year 5,000 or else you have to pay taxes on part of your monthly check. You also need better insurance coverage which adds more cost. I use to be on this same plan. Once my truck got to the 6 year mark, I put down i was driving my wife's SUV but really still drove my truck for work. This guy should have bought a work truck and not a high end truck.
@noahorr3480
@noahorr3480 Ай бұрын
"Work" trucks are really hard to find right now though. The big automakers don't want to sell cheap basic trucks if people will keep buying expensive ones. For example, the new Ram 1500 is not available in a single cab - you have to get the Ram "classic" (the older 4th generation design) to get a single/standard cab. Basic work trucks get snatched up as soon as they hit the lots, if they're available at all.
@ehderguyyashootadeerorno2313

@@noahorr3480 I know I said work truck but it can be a basic trim package to save money. There is not point of buying a high end $75k truck (or whatever) for work just to put high miles on it. My guess is he needs a 4 door with his family so like a Silverado Custom, or F-150 STX would be a good option. Or if he can maybe a Colorado, Tacoma, or Ranger which are less than a full size truck. It's a lot cooler to be able to pay your bills each month and sleep at night than have a high end truck you cant afford.

@noahorr3480 Ай бұрын
@@ehderguyyashootadeerorno2313 I hear you. I think that a lot of people out there should have put way more thought into their car purchases, given the cost and how important driving/gas/insurance/reliability/safety is to most people. I'm a car guy so I like car shopping. But the other side of the story is that it's really hard to do right now. My Dad spent months searching for a basic trim Silverado. Tacomas are very expensive to buy used. Ordering is a complicated process and in some cases the wait time is 6 to 12 months, most people can't or won't wait that long. What's on the dealer lots are the big, expensive trucks. If you want something cheap, you gotta be willing to call dealerships and spend time shopping in person. A lot of people feel they don't have time for that. 😕

This lady clearly doesn't understand the details of this truck thing. I've honestly never heard of such a requirement for a standard W2 employee. Maybe if it is some sort of contractor situation. She's either willfully ignorant or the husband lied to her to justify the truck. On the taxes, it depends. If he is only compensated for the mileage, he might be able to depreciate the cost of a truck as an uncompensated business expense, but that would depend on the details of this deal/requirement, which as I mentioned, I doubt she has straight.

It is the Motus requirements for tax purposes. They pay you a tax free monthly check plus pay you like $.20 per mile. It also requires certain insurance requirements as well. You need to put on at least 5,000 miles for work per year so the monthly check is tax free. the more you drive the more your monthly check is. I know it is dumb but that is most likely what he is doing. What I did once my truck was pas the 5 year mark I put down that i was driving my wife's SUV but really I was still driving my truck. He should have bought a work truck package and not an expensive truck. Depending on how much he drives his motus check may cover the truck payment.

At my last job we had a program called Motus. It is a program some companies sign up for to give their people who travel. The way it works is Motus sends you a tax free monthly check (let's call it $400 per month) plus you get like 20 cents per mile you drive. The requirements to be on it is that your vehicle has to be less than 5 years old, and you have to have a higher insurance package through your auto insurance. You also have to put on a minimum of 5,000 miles per year. If you do not abide by that, your check is taxed or they will kick you out of the program. The nice thing about this program is if you set it up right, the monthly check covers your vehicle payment and the .20 cents per mile covers the gas on the trip. When my truck hit the 6 year mark I put down that i was driving my wife's SUV for work but still drove my truck. Before I was on the motus plan I was given $300 per check (taxed ($650 per month)) plus i could use the company credit card for gas. Now i'm on a mileage reimbursement where i get like .70 cents per mile.

Did you hear the part about them paying 70 cents a mile (untaxed)? A late-model truck shouldn't have many costs besides gas, oil changes, and tires. For every 1000 miles he'll have around $500 to put towards maint and loan payment. If commuting to a job you still need to buy a reliable vehicle and pay all operating costs with post-tax dollars (although with a football team worth of deductions , their tax bill should be nil).
