Yeah, its a bad habit that even Radiants/Pros have. I've started only looking at mini map if I know I'm safe, meaning I un-peak an angle I'm holding with an OP, look at mini map, then re-peak when I'm done

I mean what other smokes are there, if its a one way smoke, you are playing to slow down the enemies especially if ur on weak side, theres survival smoke where u smoke where u are if ur alone and u want to survive from 5 man pushes, the deep weird smoke if u playing shorties or judge on eco round and stalling, the fake smoke to let enemies stay on their site or over rotate, etc

Even if the enemy Jett got a kill mid, she was taking too long. Turning and checking the site would've been the better play because the Jett in the VOD could just look back if no one was there.

Firstly, there is a huge difference between the round where our Jett got flanked on defense and when our Jett was in connector on attack. In the defense round, the enemy was down two and the spike was spotted, plus the enemy had no information on any of our team's locations. In the attacking round, they spot a huge number of enemies in A Secret, and our Brim is already on site and has control. The reason why Woohoojin says to look A main is because it's a really bad play to keep going B after losing two in doors, with no info on any of the other defenders. They could easily be getting pinched right now, and that's exactly what the enemy Jett should be afraid of because she has the spike. If she dies connector or mid, the round is completely lost because Cypher (who is very likely walking up A since Cypher is best suited to lurk on attack) is too far away to help retrieve it and Sova can't win on his own while being exposed to that many angles. Jett could still push connector, but the fact that we haven't seen her do so yet is a strong indication that we should check behind us so that we don't get pinched by the enemy lurking through A. If the enemy wanted to 5 man funnel through mid doors (really bad play on an even buy), they wouldn't do it so slowly, because it's too easy for the defenders to contain them to that area, and then they'd be getting peeked from all sides. So it's unlikely Cypher is with the group there. Other minor hints that Jett went back to A main: - You hear her use dash a decent bit after killing Raze. She likely had to walk through the narrow doors before she could dash her full distance. - There's no footsteps heard towards connector. Again, the enemy would have to play fast if they wanted to all push through doors. - Our teammate sees nothing after pushing up all the way through B long. - We've seen no presence Art yet. Enemy Cypher would be pretty useless just standing there outside entrance to Art the entire time gaining no map control or info. In fact, NO ONE has seen the enemy Cypher yet. Where is he? - It's Cypher. He lurks often in attack because he offers more value to the team that way. If Jett wanted to regroup, where would she go? Back towards her Cypher, who's lurking. The only possible lurk location at the time Woohoojin says to look A main is... A main. Lastly, put yourself in the enemy's shoes. Doesn't pushing slowly, one by one through mid doors, through a smoke, sound like a terrible play?

id rather have a jett lurking in connecter than a cypher getting full A control and get a kill

it's called therapy and I would argue that many therapists are even better than woohojin because they're actually formally AND informally qualified, and with even greater experience. Of course, better in the sense that woohojin is just a really intelligent guy and it's impossible to get any course on 'how to game', so everything he knows is informal and based on much smaller studies/statistics when it comes to things that happen in gaming. @@PicassosCat Studies on psychology and stuff like that are much more plentiful and therefore in these topics you are able to come to much more educated conclusions than when it comes to gaming, and gaming-related topics.

Generally yes but in the main clip an ally pushed past his angle (and created a hole that the enemy walked through, but our hero should have noticed first)

@@VioletSteel13Yeah, but also Jett killed Raze in B Link, so she could've been A Link through Connector, which is why it's not safe to look at minimap at that time. That said, I would probably look at it, turn around to watch A, and get killed by Jett coming from Connector.

Ultimately this is a rather specific situation which you won't ever get if you don't have that Jett's terrible positioning. Having to worry about two different angles is only fine if you know from which angle the enemy will peek first. The Jett didn't know that, and didn't even bother checking behind her, or even using her brain to suspect an enemy may have pushed up A Main after NOBODY was watching it for a good amount of time. I would be going back and playing A Site IMMEDIATELY after the teammate Cypher goes Art, because that is the most likely timing the enemy could get, and a high diamond player should immediately be catching themselves in the act of literally 'doing nothing'. Going Connector would be a TERRIBLE play from the enemy since IIRC they already died there many times before, and I honestly would rather die but make the CORRECT decision (to look towards A Main), even in the extremely unlikely scenario that a braindead enemy did indeed lurk up Connector. Making correct decisions is just a more consistent way to win your games than worrying about those extremely unlikely "what ifs". Surprisingly, even high elo players don't fully get that. This is why I respect Woohojin, even if his thinking IS slightly one-dimensional.

@implyVAL that's the best way to get better though? Being able to make the decisions in this clearly-not-a-flow-chart game that you literally can't be taught the correct play for every scenario without learning how to decide that yourself?

@@elizabethcabbage9817 there is a basic way of anything after you got that down you can play around if you dont got the basics down which most dont have, there really is no use to it and the game is not rocket science stop overthinking usually you can fix things by looking at your map and positioning yourself correctly which goes back to the basics
