I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.
My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.
My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

Tom If you look at it in slow Motion your hard left hip drive gives you no choice but to keep the club down as you swing through the ball and beyond….your swing momentum from the top half of your body is simply trying to catch up to your legs that have thrust out towards the target….The fact your head and your upper body throw on the brakes and end this wild ride is what give you that whip effect…. A wet locker room towel, or a bullwhip have the same effect as you want to snap your throwing or swing hand back to fast because of the loud crack they create when in fact the longer you can let that arm go forward while holding your head back Creates the loudest most effect snap! By the way the short vids are very helpful to the viewers and followers as you can stop them at any time and analyze them slowly with the action bar..👌

Glad you're enjoying the "shorts", Barry, and yes - I use the towel snap and whip crack imagery in my instruction. The technical term is "disassociation", meaning that the lower body moves laterally towards the target while the upper body - and therefore your swing center - remain in place. That's the formula for maintaining the proper downswing path and experiencing consistently crispy contact. Thanks! Tom

My last lesson this is what we were working on with a tee out in front to clip well after the ball. I use a coin or a tee in front for my son with his 7iron to practice. For me I need to combine this with a feeling I'm still staying behind the ball. Like maybe my left shoulder hits a wall and the arms go past type of thing. We just got back from Myrtle yesterday. Son is doing great. He hit 2nd green with his driver hole 2 Myrtlewood Pinehills and then hit 6 greens at the aero course.

@@SagutoGolf I didn’t mean sliding your body I meant the club I understand the mechanics of a good golf swing but if you don’t have your hands in front your not going to take a divot you’re going to hit the ball leading edge. I tell my friends all the time look how a pitcher throws the ball or how you hit a baseball at the top of your swing you uncoil your lower body and the arms and torso will follow there are several drills for this you can put a club with your arms crossed at your chest and practiced making your shoulder turn with your base stable and moving your hips and legs while keeping your torso motionless or you can hold onto a pole in front of or behind your body and do the same thing. Or more simply put once coiled with a full shoulder turn and a solid foundation swing with your hips and the arms will follow Ben hogan has several clips on this. I just found this confusing is all this would probably help me to square up the face longer through the impact zone though so I’ll give it a shot

I've been getting better contact lately but I've been pulling my ball lately aswell. What causes pulling the ball left?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 2 жыл бұрын
Hard to say without seeing it, Arty. First of all, know that ball flight rules dictate the starting direction is determined by the face angle at impact relative to the target line, and the direction/degree of curvature is face angle relative to path. A common cause of pulls is insufficient lateral hip slide in the downswing. We need to keep the hips moving laterally towards the target through the entire downswing (while maintaining our swing center, of course). If the hips stop their lateral slide before impact their rotation will take over and reroute the downswing path. Have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. Hi Gregory, A significant percentage of my students and online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. @@mrsmartypants_1 90% of golfers natural ball flight is a fade. Just comes natural. But with that, you generally hit the ball higher in the air, lose distance and get zero roll out. Most learn to hit a draw as it’s a lower ball flight, lower spinning with tons of roll out. These pros you mention just play whatever shot shape is working for them on the range before the round. They don’t try to force a particular shot shape if it’s just not there that day
@mrsmartypants_1
@mrsmartypants_1 2 жыл бұрын
@@ryanwalters694 Umm no. 90% of golfers are chopper hackers and have slices. Every scratch player has a natural go-to ball flight be it a fade or a draw. Most can then work other ball flights to a lessor degree. In the past most good golfers just followed the crowd mentality that you want a draw, swing from the inside coming through and dropping below the plane. That of course is BS as proven time after time by the best players in the game - Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Lee Trevino, yadda yadda yadda… Tiger was the big influence in the modern era to once again demonstrate the fade is king. For consistent accuracy and power. Like Hogan and Trevino did before him. As I previously stated the best players today have returned to the fade in a big way as their natural ball flight. Partly because they are monster drivers. Rory McIlroy is one of the few old schoolers. Granted his swing and drives are gorgeous but I submit it’s his old school draw that has greatly limited his wins in the last 8 years. He just isn’t accurate enough into the pins. He should become a fader like Hogan if he wants to rack up a couple more majors. (He never will.)
