The best giovanni tip is to not beat him right away. The decoy grunts are your best friend for hunting shiny shadow pokemon. Decoy grunts are super easy to beat, barely use any resources to beat and give out radar pieces like regular grunts. The giovanni decoys will allow you to build rocket radars easily to go after the rocket bosses. Also, you might get a good PVP iv bellsprout.

Hey pokedaxi,love from Bangalesh 🇧🇩 A tip connected to the matter : if you want to get 2 of the shadow legendary pokemon from giovanni,just save the current giovanni task and wait for the next one. Then complete the both and get 2 of the same shadow legendary pokemon. For example,i Didn't complete the silent scheme. Now there is Field notes: team go rocket task. So to get that,i first beatet Giovanni from the silence scheme super rocket radar. And got a latios instead of latias because the current encounter from giovanni is latios. So now i will complete the field notes: team go rocket and save the pass for the next giovanni pokemon. Now if i need another shadow latios,i will simply use the radar of field notes: team go rocket.

Was waiting for this confirmation, got it on your stream. Got myself a 14/15/14 Latios and instantly used a charged TM to get rid of frustration. Now just need to get candies and start powering it up!!

While it is a good idea, there's potentially a lot of waiting around involved. If your good with that, great! If you don't feel like waiting months or years for X Pokémon to return, might as well just use em.

Following up on this: I had left Silent Schemes uncompleted until yesterday to get a boosted Shadow Latios. I did not receive the next Rocket Research for Field Notes: Team Go Rocket. I asked Niantic Support and they said we had to get the Field Notes Rocket research in July 2022 or we missed out. Happy to share screenshots as well.

I had a radar saved from the Apex quest (along with the Apex quest still open on the step to defeat Giovanni) and it still gave me the research. I had 2 radars at once in my inventory and used 1 to catch Shadow Latios once. This must only be true in some certain situations.

For Team Go Rocket special research, my understanding is you can hold off on completing the old research and the new research will automatically show up after you finish it. What happens if two new Rocket research are available? Do you get both in sequence or would you miss out on one and only see the newest one? Context: I am on the A. Silent Schemes Giovanni tasks but not interested in catching shadow Latios. Next new Rocket research is B. Field Notes: Team Go Rocket. If another Rocket research C is active, once I finish A, would I miss B and start C?

Broo doing the silent scheme and apex research defeating Giovanni tasks at same time actually got me the extra super radar. Wasn't thinking about the apex one like that but but glad I seen this cause now I can claim apex lugia still have a super radar and the new rocket research to get another super radar

its not that complicated: You should ALWAYS use your previous research once a new one comes around. The only question is whether you will then use the new research to get a second copy of that current shadow pokemon or save it for the future. if you save your radar once (hence if you choose not to get one shadow pokemon) it enables you tog et some other shadow pokemon in the future twice. You cant get anything more than twice (at least not with this method). So: Should you use your past research to get Latias? Yes. Not using it would be like throwing away a radar. Should you use your current research to get Latias? Thats the real choice.

Daxi, I think you can still stack the Giovanni missions. I'm currently using 4 accounts and I noticed something. I did get the new Giovanni Field Research and I do have the Silent Schemes, on one of the accounts but the Schemes were only at stage 1 with ALL the rewards unclaimed. The other 3 accounts Schemes are at stage 3 - 5 and they didn't get the mission. So maybe we can try it by not collecting the rewards from the 1st stage of a mission?

I've got Masterwork Research Apex 3/4, Misunderstood Mischief 15/16 both of those I have a super rocket radar claimable. I also got the Field Notes: Team Go Rocket, so I didn't have to complete the other ones... But I have previously complete Silent Schemes.

My issue is I can't beat Giovanni. 🤦🏾‍♂

You can also stack the radars I currently have 3 and I did receive a 4th one without having to use one but did use 1 to catch latias

Fortunately I did finish Apex and Silent schemes at the same time, and I already got a Latinos from one. I’m working towards the next Supe Rocket radar but haven’t decided wether get another Latios or wait till next Giovanni’s change. I mean, I managed to avoid Shadow Latias just by activating one SRR once the event had started, and I believed that’s what help me skip Latias

I stacked mine and used them when shadow mewtwo was last available and got 3 of them

Does this mean you can still get two of a desired mon by holding onto the previous Rocket Research? eg., If we find out that Shadow Mewtwo is next, save this weekend's Research and complete it the weekend Mewtwo returns, then use that weekend's Research before Gio changes his mon again?

You can have both field notes and the master work research. I have both right now.

Misunderstood Mischief seems to work like the Masterworks lines. Yes, I have played pokemon go very very irregularly for the past 4 years, so I have some ancient research lines still incomplete.

I actually have both research quests on my account. I think it’s because i hadn’t completed a single one of the challenges. Apparently that was what allowed me to have both 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well those who have holding to the previous rocket research radar you have to do it now to get the new one. However you can still not use the 1 getting right and store so that you can get atleast 2 of them next time

I never knew this I started when latias was in so luckily I didn’t miss anything special because I still got the radar and I’ll always have a spare for a 2nd shadow legendary but u saved my life thank you so much

When shadow Latias was released I was doing the previous Giovanni research from a recent event. Wound up with two radars. Caught Shadow Latias and saved the other. from this video I'm assuming that wont happen anymore because the new system has made it legacy.

I have both misunderstood mischief and silent schemes in my special research so yeah you can definitely have two “defeats the team rocket boss” special tasks at once

So I was also waiting to complete Silent Schemes until this week-end, but after watching your video I just finished it. I was expecting to get a Shadow Latias but I got a shadow Latios instead ! And now I get access to Field Notes, that means I can get a new super radar and a second Shadow Latios ? Or maybe I'll wait for the next Giovanni event

Spotted a new glitch last night, I caught 6 pokemon with the same great ball. I had 101 great balls in my inventory as I was working my way through the new research challenges and I noticed that with the reward pokemon if you do a quick catch, dragging the berry button as you through, you can catch or even miss the throw but still had 101 pokeballs like with the snapshot glitch only it caught multiple pokemon without wasting a pokeball. Eventually it stopped working but I think it was after I caught a wild spawn

So if I use one of my two super rocket radars and battle to complete an inter egg sting development I will get the current one get the radar from that so when the new new research comes out I battle to complete the current one get the new new one get the radar from that and use them all of the shadows good enough? Sorry I’m bad at this stuff.

You can also turnoff radars so you can still encounter regular encounters from the balloons. I did save a radar before Mewtwo's first non event and got 2 shadow mewtwo's because of that, since the shadow before that i did not want twice so i thought i try if i can save the radar.

i did silent schemes at the same time as the APEX one, so i got shadow latios + my APEX lugia + i have a extra team rocket boss radar now with no missions left to do :) come on next shadow legendary !!!

Dude, I completed my silent schemes special research today in 9th July and I currently have field notes in my special research section. So you can just battle the good legendary and do that research and u have 1 extra.

I fought Giovanni and got an okay shadow latios. I had saved a radar somehow when latias was the shadow. I purified it and it's a 93 which I plan to use for my mega. But after hearing that shadow might be good I might want to try and get another latios. Cause after that I unlocked the new research but not sure if I could try to get another shadow latios to try and get good ivs

If anyone is getting too much excited to get latios as numer 3 dragon type attacker, shadow rayquaza will be number 1,when shadow rayquaza comes, complete silent scheme, then get the new research, then get shadow rayquaza again and boom, 2 shadow rayquaza that are number 1 dragon type attacker

I had the apex and silent sceams research. I did not get the new rocket research when i finished them both. only after i finished the first page of the new timed research. so you may still get to stack them.

I have the apex ho oh and Luigi research and also the new one . The apex one has you battle Giovanni.

All I wanna say is if you got the Field Notes: Team GO Rocket special research the hundo for normal darumaka is 618 CP(thank me later)

I would like to add something to this. It is possible to get up to two encounters with Giovanni using only special research. I know this, because I have done it. If you start a Giovanni special research, but never collect the BRR, you will never encounter him and the research will stay there until you will. If you wait, you wont get the new research, but this wont matter. You can wait until a research comes along with a new shadow legendary you want. Lets say you are still on Silent Schemes, but you have not collected the BRR. Now, theoretically, you waited out 2 researches, but this thrid one has the legendary you want. You can now complete Silent Schemes, collect the BRR, battle Giovanni, get the *new* legendary, finish the research. By this point you will get the current research, with a chance to battle giovanni again, with his new legendary. True, you skipped 2 researches and you will never be able to do those and encounter the legendaries he had at that time, but you get two of the legendary you actually wanted.

I'm planning on saving mine until they announce the new shadow. If it's something good like Rayquaza, Groudon, Kyogre, etc. I'll use my old radar, do the new quest and get another one. If it's something average, I'll get latios before it rotates out. That's my big brain play. Giovanni rotates so infrequently, there's so many new legendarys to cycle through, and shadow Mewtwo already returned once, I'm not sure how long (if ever) it will return again.

Just so people know idk what he was talking about if you don’t finish previous research you won’t get the next one because I held my one from go fest till today still go the 2nd research they were doing for this event so that’s not true can definitely just hold 1 and finish on next event the get the new research

Daxi, how many super rockets radars do you have? Have the theory that probably you can't stack more than 2 of them. I'm on "A secret mischief" at stage 5 with only giovanni task pending. I received secret schemes (already completed: got latias) and now I received the new special research for latios.

Beats Zacian with WC/CC, as it's the preferred moveset, and it resists both, while Psychic on Fairy is neutral

If u have the new research just save the radar and when the new one comes use it and gain the new radar from research this way if a great shadow legendary comes u can have 2 of the good shadow legendary plz dax help me confirm if this strategy will work

I have two Giovanni rocket radars. But haven’t been able to beat him. Did not get the new special research - the red dot showed there was new special research, but I guess it is blocked by my two incomplete beat Giovanni tasks. Ope!

Im havin a tough time understanding this. My doubt is should i use my black rocket radar now or not. I got the black rocket radar from silent schemes research and i dont have any previous research. So should i use my black rocket radar right now and get that shadow lati or should i wait ( i dont mind losing shadow lati when i can get a better shadow legendary ). The black rocket radar wont dissappear right? Can someone pls reply and help me

There is another method to stack super radars but it is so difficult to happen i guess.This happened to me when shadow latias just came out. I completed the research and defeated Giovanni, but when i was going to have my encounter the app lag out so hard that everything just froze. So i had to restart the app but when i did it i didnt have the encounter with giovanni (it was from a balloon) nor my super radar. So i sent a message to niantic staff explaining what happened and they gave me a new super rocket radar but i already completed the research where you had to defeat giovanni so i didnt need to use the radar to finish the research. And thats how i managed to stack the super radar. I just thought it was a curious story and probably replicable but everything needs to align perfectly. Waiting for shadow mewtwo or rayquaza tho

You can actually get 1 extra catch from Giovanni by waiting until he has the new special research, then beating him with the old super rocket radar which should give you the new shadow legendary. The only problem is that you have to skip one legendary to do this once.

I only started playing pokemon go in the last couple months again and have only been able to catch two shadow latias and now shadow latios. Started playing again at the wrong time it seems I would love to have a shadow mewtwo, hooh or lugia I see them everywhere in pvp

I checked and noticed I had Looming in the Shadows. I completed it and then Field Notes appeared, which means I missed out on some 10 Giovanni chances. Wish I had known this sooner.

The same thing happened to me, I didn’t get the research cause I never finished Masterwork research: Apex. I just finished it by riding my bike in the rain for hours but still haven’t received the new research. Oh well, at least i’m ready for next time.
