Saw Jackie Evancho at The Sharon Performing Arts Center in March this year, if she comes back you don’t want to miss her her angelic voice touches your heart and soul. Her voice has helped through the passing of my wife.

Villages is a nice place to live, but when you go out the Village is choking to see so much poverty around. I was checking out the Village but driving around I honestly lost the happiness to be living there. It's like a wonderful reach house in a very poor neighborhood. 😬

That is true. There is some poverty around. We always try to see all sides. It is very sad to see any human suffering, but there are so many retired people here with time and knowledge and resources. So many people give money and time with a generous heart. It is always heartwarming to see. Thanks for watching!

That’s disturbing but Florida has always had the reputation as being fairly low on the socioeconomic scale . I’m hoping to move to TV next year and that I LOVE IT!

Golf is always such a big part of the Villages conversation. Do you think people who are not into golf can enjoy the Villages enough to justify living there?

Definitely! Originally that was the big push, all of the golf. We have the most pickleball courts in a grouped area in the US. That is now a big appeal for many people. There are so many sports that range from active (softball, tennis, water volleyball) to less active (shuffleboard, corn hole, bocci). We have a ton of rec centers which house exercise equipment, basketball courts, crafting rooms, etc. The squares with live music every night from 5-9pm is a big draw. I sound like an ad for The Villages 😵‍💫 but there truly is so much to do here. There are also many residents that just enjoy the area and convenience and the getting around in golf carts and are not as active in other ways. There are lots of restaurants to choose from too, which appeals to many who don’t want to cook anymore 😊

We have a better winter than you do, for sure! When we retired down here, I said I didn’t even want to be 1 mile north of West Palm beach, because I hate cold. lol. We live in the Ft. Lauderdale area. We know the weather very well in the Orlando area. It gets Cold sometimes during winter. The Villages, of course, has a better winter than the northeast. We want to visit the Villages because to check it out, etc. for a week. It would be hard to give up the beach, but then again, you never know. The activities, social aspect is drawing us there. We’ll see. I enjoy your videos

As a visitor I didn’t notice any corner stores. I wondered how people coped with no car or cart.

I don’t know personally anyone who doesn’t have a car or cart, so I’m not sure how to answer. After covid there are so many delivery services, so maybe through them? I do know that when people are ill or down temporarily, neighbors volunteer to take them or just pick things up for them. We do have a lot of Publix that are in walking distance of neighborhoods, so if someone didn’t drive, I guess that would be a big focus of where to buy. Thanks for watching!

Your thoughts about snowbirds. A realtor told me in the winter you need to get down to squares at 2:00 to get a chair because of the amount of the people.

Well, that could be true. Once covid hit people got in the habit of bringing their own chairs. You are not supposed to “reserve” chairs anyway, so it would be a long day from 2:00!! 😄. People come and go during the music. Some go before dinner, some go after, some just pop in for a few songs. When some of the more popular bands are there, it is of course more crowded. Little insider hint…go to the square and park your cart along the square. Many people just sit in their carts and listen. Hope this helps a little. Thank you for watching!

Great video. Another advantage to the location is being pretty close to a lot of the spring training venues. If you like baseball. So, being from Chicago, whose your team, Cubs or White Sox?

You mentioned a 55 and older community and then you comeback and talk about schools how many schools in the villages?

There are charter schools here. Mostly to entice people to work here. Everyone (or a lot of us) are retired, yet we want to eat out, get our hair done etc. They put in a charter school and are building a second to entice more workers to work here. If you work for The Villages, your kids can go to school there. If you work on Villages property, there is a very good chance your kids can get in. It is a fairly highly rated school in Florida.
