Hi guys, just wanted to update you… my husband’s sim rig is complete now, the Fanatec wheel was delivered and he’s in heaven. He pre-ordered the new Gran Turismo game which comes out March 4th. He’s been a gamer for many years and I wasn’t a fan in the beginning but I learned to accept what he loves. Wish you the best in getting what makes you happy too!

This is really sweet, because my wife had the same outlook then and now. And I have to say I feel like a very lucky man that she chose NOT to divorce me after I brought a sim rig into our small one bedroom apartment ;) Wish you and your husband all the best. It’s important to find ways of being happy, and you giving him that understanding probably means a lot more to him than he might let on. Thank you on his behalf for being so cool :) it’s very rare to find a special lady that accepts your expensive hobbies :P

I'm 70, my wife 68. We own wheel/pedal sets and never use them. I am in a wheelchair,ad cannot use pedals correctly,and we both prefer hand controllers. Our local league is called The Pebble Pushers for a reason. We spent a lot of time agricultural racing. Years past I had fun on Grand Prix Legends, and I was a beta tester for Sierra.

Yes, I will probably be alternating between wheel and controller to feel the adaptive triggers. Could be mistaken, but I assumed that the CSL Pedals Load Cell Kit would be like adaptive trigger feedback but on the pedal. I am looking to purchase the load cell kit once I get all my gear.

@@viczvapo a loadcell isn't like the adaptive triggers, I tried the adaptive triggers with Dirt 5 and Wreckfest and IMO it doesn't add much, especially if you're already pulling pretty hard on the triggers anyway.

FINALLY, someone came forward to point out how Fanatec cut some corners with the steering wheel. Every other KZfaqr/influencer saying the wheel is magnific, has all the buttons they need, but failing to acknowledge that it's too plasticky, same as the Thrustmaster offerings. Don't get me wrong, I think the CSL DD is the best thing that happened to the market for a long time, but what really annoys me is that there's much goodwill towards Fanatec from some bigger KZfaqrs, where they can just skip criticizing Fanatec products or downplay flaws just because they love (!?) the brand. Sorry for the rant, and good review on the product. I hope for it to be a huge success and other brands rise their games.

I dont think fanatec had a choice. This wheel looks and feels like a playstation controller because it was designed by Polyphony and Sony, not by fanatec.

@N K I see your point, but don't they have a say in the materials used? After all it's a Fanatec product at the end of the day. And to be fair, I'm not saying the wheel is trash, haven't used it to say anything like this. Just vented about how this is an important aspect about the product that I feel needed to be better addressed by other people reviewing it.

@@thiagoods021 That's the thing, I'm not even sure if Fanatec made the wheel either. The materials are so unlike their other wheels. You would expect the materials to be similar to their cheapest wheel (CSL BMW wheel which was sold as fanatec branded on black friday for $99). But it's so vastly different. Also the paddles are very different from their other wheels as well. Almost like it's made in an entirely different plant. Perhaps this was a money grab opportunity by Polyphony and Sony to provide the wheels and make them super cheap to pad their margins. I bought the GT DD PRO, i'll simply wait for the next black friday 2022 to get the $99 wheel and wait for the QR2 to come out to get that as well.

@@thiagoods021 They certainly collaborated on the wheel, but I think Fanatec was just trying to wrestle the contract away from Thrustmaster, so they're probably bending over backwards to make the deal enticing to Sony.

I bought this wheel. I also ordered the clubsport v3 inverted pedals. Waiting on new Sim rig to use the pedals. As for the wheel. I think it is great. I have been using the csl pedals. No load cell. I had the g29. So far the difference is huge. The wheel isn't as cheap feeling as it looks in the pictures. If you're using the Logitech g29, or comparable I believe you won't be disappointed.

Glad to hear the CSL pedals are a step up from the Logitech ones. I honestly quite like my G920 except for the brake pedal. I just feel like the two stages are too distinct and it's hard to brake at all gradually/trail break. I'm tempted to get this setup and use a drive hub (while I save up for an Xbox wheel), but was worried I'd have to get the load cell for any pedal improvement. I could also just get the drive hub and use my g920 on ps4, but this setup looks really good.

I ordered the DD Pro yesterday. Was going to get a CSL elite. But unfortunately they don’t make anymore. I do wish the wheel was made better. Not have leather wrap is a bummer.

You’re right. The base 700€ pack is misleading, for a full experience you need the booster kit and the third pedal. Add the shipping costs and you are over 1K. For half money I found an used like new tgt2, and I assure you that it is much more than I need in terms of ffb and ‘drive feelings’. But if you are a sim racer and you have a lot of money to spend, you’ll probably should to choose fanatec instead of the thrustmaster. Most people affirm that thrustmaster is rubbish (especially the tgt) without having tried it!

I have the t300rs with the Ferrari 30cm wheel. I'm wish they made it at that size not 28cm. As good as t300 are a DD wheel is far superior in feel. Plus if you turn the force feedback up on the t300 the motors casing cracks. I'm on my 2nd t300 because of that problem.

Waiting on just the DD Pro base to be available as I own Xbox/PS5 and PC so I'd like to have a compatible base with a different wheel. Guess just have to play the waiting game until DD Pro is available on it's own. Other option is to just get the DD PRO GT version and get a wheel later on but not sure how I feel about spending more $$$

Hello! I want to upgrade from my Logitech G27 but i have no idea if its better to buy a CSL DD or this Gt DD Pro? I will play on pc what i like with the DD Pro is that its a complete set. I would also like a wheel that is possible to play some rally and f1 games if there is any good wheels for that. I would love some good tips of what to buy.

Have you tried this with a foldable seat (Playseat Challenge or Next Level Racing)? Also what shifters is it compatible with? I currently have a G29 wheel and pedal and use Logitech’s shifter for classic cars in AC on PS4. Wouldn’t want to lose that ability if I upgrade to this?

At the moment I have a thrustmaster T300 RS along with one of the old ferrari style F1 wheels but I am looking at getting a Fanatec. Is there enough difference to warrant it and also I quite fancied the McLaren GT3 wheel but it says it is not compatible with a PS5. Do you or anyone else know any different ?? IE: does it work. Ordered mine about a month ago...pretty excited to get it...its a little bitter sweet as I won't be using is for gran tourismo 7 after the egregious micro-transactions that have been added and the fact that the game to be played you must always be online. I'm sure asseto corsa will do just fine.

I would prefer if it had a usb3 plug so I could plug it in the back of the ps5,looks cleaner.There could be a converter or maybe it needs the extra speed not sure.

Those adapters are readily available. You should be fine to use an USB-C to A adapter as the ports on the PS5 are all 10gb/s.

8:17 Actually, for PlayStation compatibility, ALL wheels will be compatible! This is because the PS security chip that makes peripherals PS compatible lives inside the wheel base, not the wheels themselves, as is the case for the XBOX security chip. That means that if you have the GT DD Pro, any wheel, even one made exclusively for Xbox, will be MADE compatible the moment you put it on a wheel base that has a PS security chip in it, such as the GT DD Pro. And, it will work seamlessly with Xbox, but only if you have an Xbox wheel attached to it.

Sadly not, even an entry level force feedback wheel will need to be mounted to something, whether that's a desk or a rig. I wouldn't want to know the consequences of using a DD Pro on your lap... 👀

After watching many reviews you get what you pay for with both G923 and Fanatec. If you get bored its always easier to sell G923 than Fanatec.

You seem to know a lot about these wheels. Are the there any steering wheels that have the accelerate and brakes on the wheel, so I could use it without my feet, as I’m disabled and can’t move my feet quick enough?

Hi Tim, John here. Personally I am not sure what the best solution is... I do know that if you have the fanatec Mclaren GT3 rim you can assign the extra clutch paddles as accelerator and brake, but im sure there are far more optimised setups depending on your disability. That's great news to my ears about Xbox compatibility with a wheel swap. I was already about sold on the DD Pro, now its a no brainer. Does anyone know of any other XBOX wheels that'll definitely work, other than the $200 McLaren?

I'm going to wait for thrustmaster to bring out a direct drive just after New year hopefully so I'd recommend to wait for gran turismo to come out before you buy fenatc

I've always been a console controller player. I've always done well but can see there's room for improvement. I'm thinking about getting this. The real question is, will I see my lap times reduce with this set up? Can anyone help me out. Thanks

There's no guarantee that your times will improve, if it's your first wheel then you will have a period of time where you have to adapt to using it. Practise will bring your pace up. One thing that can be guaranteed is that you will feel more immersed which for most people, significantly increases the enjoyment you get out of racing games.

You could always start with a G29 and make sure it's something you use a lot before dropping another $700-900.

They're adjustable. You can move the pedals around.

There's some obvious latency between you turning the wheel and what's happening in game. Is your display set to game mode? Latency looks worse than my G29

The TV used for our B Roll is a large Philips panel, with larger latency than we'd like (and the game mode in particular is buggy). When coupled with our ultrafast gaming monitors, this was not present.

Oh I'd love one, but with how much I race at home compared to work, it'd be a €700 drop which wouldn't get used all that much. That's what I meant! 😅 I have access to it in the office, so it'll do me fine during work hours 😉

Hello! So for under £100 you will struggle to get a new wheel which gives you the information you need to get the most out of it. I would highly reccomend looking at second hand logitechs, either a G27 or a G29 if you can get one for that price, or even a second hand Thrustmaster T150. These wheels will be a far better experience for the money, but you would have to be comfortable with taking a chance on a used product. Best of luck!

Over £1000+ If you are ordering from the UK, you have to pay the VAT on top of the €895 top bundle price AND you have to pay customs duty on it. Until Fanatec offer standard UK distribution it's just not worth it, unless £1200 is small change to you of course.

Just for your info, this isn't entirely correct. I was looking at the base model which is €700 plus postage on top, so another €20. When I added it to the basket the website reduces the price at checkout by 20%. That money is then paid to the courier in the form of VAT so you do end up paying the advertised price or close to it.

@@MW_1981No. They clearly state that UK buyers need to pay VAT and customs duty, on top of the total price. They do not include VAT in their pricing.

@@Johnnyjawbone When you look at the price on each item it actually says Including VAT but + shipping costs. When you add that item to your basket and go to actually pay, the previous total has now been reduced.......This is because you now pay the VAT to the courier rather than them, so THEY take the VAT off at point of sale.

You need an Xbox compatible Fanatec steering wheel, but yes it will work if you have one. In Fanatec’s setups, the console compatibility electronics are always in the wheel itself. It makes the wheels more expensive, but it also makes it so you can use the base and pedals with whatever setup you want.

Question for the reviewer. How many cars have you actually driven irl with metal pedal shifters? Because i havnt, they were all plastic on actual cars.

When the CSL DD for Playstation works better on PC than the windows version.. Some who ordered at the beginning may feel a little resentment....

It works exactly the same, because it's exactly the same wheelbase. They share the same firmware, it can't get any closer. The only thing you don't have on the CSL DD is the ps compatibility (that's why this one is 50 €/$ more expensive (to pay Sony's fee basically.

I am on the pre-order list, and cannot find out if PS membership is required to run the game via the PS4 "entitltments". Try to lock us into a payment plan,and we bolt !
