Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This KZfaq channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

Hey Rick, do you feel that certain grips can make hitting fades and draws easier as well? I've had some inconsistent success with strong grips helping me hit a fade and weaker grips for a draw, but I've never focused on slightly closing the face at address. Thanks again for the great lesson

Have your employee putting on your grip make you grip lines to a stronger grip stronger or more neutral for set up fades and draws are all about foot position and square upper torso but grip and feet allow draws or fades, or hit it straight the best play any course playing any course allowing you to hit girs

That's awesome... and realistic, I hate when "golf Pros" on KZfaq use outrageous thumbnails saying you will take 10 strokes off of your game by this one simple trick.. I feel like those channels should be demonetized, or at least have to rename their videos because they hardly ever disclaim that their tips and tricks will only help 1 out of 100 people do what they said.

Hi Rick, just wanted to thank you. Some years ago I was a 4,5 hcp player, but I stopped playing because I lost the joy an fun in golf. I put myself under way too much pressure and seceded to quit… untill almost a year ago a buddy of mine started golfing and asked me to join him. I refused many times, but eventually I gave in and joined him for some holes. And I had fun again! The fun in golfing also oozes out of your KZfaq contributions. I really enjoy your content and also the fact that you sometimes miss a shot. That makes you really human an like the rest of us! More important, you really enjoy what you do. And that is a great inspiration for me! Getting slowly back into the game! If you ever consider to visit the Netherlands, I would be very hounoured to take you for a round at my homecourse Cromstrijen. Warm regards and keep up the good work! Wkr Lodewijk

The club face set up is eye opening for me. I was always told to pre-aim the face at the end target (so the flag etc.) but would either find myself over working and missing left with draws or right with fades. I can't wait to try the idea of still aiming slightly left/right of the end target with my clubface and then committing to the shot shapes and hopefully see them a bit more accurate than before.

My thought process for these shots: Low: narrow stance, ball back 1-2 balls from normal, low hand finish High: Ball up 1-2 balls, high hand finish Fade: Aim club where I want fade to start, body aimed twice as left of clubhead. Focus on path along toeline. Occasionally ball up in stance. Draw: same as fade but out to right and occasionally ball back.

Hey Rick! Love this one. I have a question with the low shot, how come we reduce the loft of the club with our swing and hit soft rather than choosing a lower lofted club (say going from a 7 to a 5 iron) and still swinging softer? Are there any advantages to keeping the same club?
@bramabull111
@bramabull111 2 жыл бұрын
You absolutely can if that is your feel shot. I am assuming that it's just because mid irons have a shorter shaft and more bounce than a long iron. Which would make it more controllable and forgiving. When you are taking off loft with the hands forward you are also taking off bounce. Taking a 7 over a 5 will give you an extra 2 degrees average of bounce to help through the turf. The 5 iron shot has more margin for error theoretically but if you feel good with it and your dispersion is good, that's what really matters

@@InspireApon You always desire a 'one way' miss no matter the type of shot you hit, it's easier to correct on course than a 2-way miss. A straight ball hitter has the same chance for misses (left or right) as someone that hits a draw or fade.

Nice job on your explanations! I naturally used to slice the ball when I was younger but now I favor the draw.

I fixed my slice just by swinging slower and not trying to crush it

@@moose9689 so let me say I fixed it 3 times by myself without my coach cause we are on a break and every time I went back to golf I got back into slicing. Well The last time I fixed it I slowed my tempo down and everything was fine. But when I played golf 2 days later I kept slicing it 😭😭😭.

Simply work on the draw set up from this video (add in his “Stop your slice” video). If you can get into that position, it is impossible to slice the ball. I found that I would think about way too many things, and now approach swings with ONE primary “swing thought”. Rick emphasizing keeping the head of the club behind the body on downswing helped me get more inside and stop my “over the top” move. Practice is the key, and good luck!

Rick...very nice ....this is exactly how I teach these shots.....good feedback...appreciated....There is a distance factor that each of these shots creates to compensate for slightly using the same club.... Enjoyed the 70 pound club set video with your friend....fun.....the utility wood shot was most impressive to the par five

Went to the driving range for the first time in years and had a wicked slice. I watched your video how to correct a slice the day before I was going out to play with a buddy of mine. Your instruction worked. I did not slice one shot the whole day. Thank you so much for your advice.

Mostly I'm just trying to hit the ball dead straight....but you really made this fade/draw setup easy to understand. I'll definitely have to work on developing this more.
