The Ranger is one of the most beloved classes in Guild Wars 2 and to this day it still offers some of the best gameplay in all game modes. In PvP it can be a bit overwhelming with all of the new and fast elite specializations but I am going to show you how the a Core Ranger Build can still be incredibly effective!

A small tip for bows and any ranged attack in general. Have you ever had your shots, like longbow 4, miss because you didnt face the target, the target moves too fast and is on top of you or behind you, interrupting the shot? In order to keep facing the target automatically, have a target, stay still and dont hold your rignt mouse button. Then press your ranged attack. Your character will face and if need track the target, so even longbow 2 will fully channel even if your target walks through you.

Also one tip that many people do not know: you can use your pet in ''guard mode'' this way you need give a command to attack the person you want, and you may ask ''why this is a good thing since is more button press?'' well I'll answet you in a simple way, is amazing against professions that get stealth, you command the pet to focus that person and if they get on stealth the pet comes back at you and if they leave the stealth the pet going automatic focus the person back.

I ran a Core Valkyrie build in PvP for the longest time which was pretty similar to this. It was very fun to play.

If you take Untamed with Hammer and Greatsword it is sooo much better with getting attack of opportunity and triggering Remorseless.

when you enter the PvP lovby (heart of the Mists) you can access every spec that you have the expansion for. outside of pvp you gacr to earn hero points to pick up the specializations

I'd say switch some of the lines for more offensive oriented things and then of course!

Doesnt each character have like 4 abilities? And you need 6 weapons to get to those 4 abilities?

nope! every weapon has 3-5 weapons depending on the choice! 1 handed weapons give 3 while 1 handed off-hand gives 2. 2handed weapons give 5!

@@CaffeinatedDad 1 of them is auto attack? I tried GW2 about a year ago. Made it to max lvl with hunter or ranger w/e it's called. Coming from WoW it felt like it had two skills. I never touched it again

@ZickZak so your 1 button I'd your (basic attack) or auto attack chain. This occurs basically without any further thought. The weapon swap ability let's you have a second set of weapons that offer new combinations. The typical combination for ranger is greatsword/Longbow. These are two handed weapons and as such always have the same 5 abilities. Most classes have weapon swapping but some (elementalist "mage" or the engineer only have 1 weapon set and cannot weapon swap) I'm streaming the elementalist tonight at 9:15pm est I can explain it with a better example

So AA, then Stealth Shot, Push back thing, Rapid fire and volley. That's IMO one ability for PvE. Maybe two if you're multitargeting

@@ZickZak ahh o! Most weapon skills are multi target or can pierce. Very few of them actually are full single target

Absolutely! Probably won't be highest dps in raids or strikes but still great overall!
