Too perfect for my ears, it's like it's being played to a metronome. Incredible mechanical skill, but needs some soul and syncopation

Chuck Berry was blessed with some amazing musicians who accompanied him in his music. This all made for such exciting moments!! My Dad's favorite song, I can still hear him singing along...

Johnny Johnson great piano player and composer that Berry underpaid and refused to pay him royalties. Later in life he had to drive a school bus to make a living. Keith Richards helped him by organizing a band for him and booking him in the USA and in Europe so that he could make a well deserved living from his art. Berry was a great musician but as a human being he was a s.o.b.

Genial! Eine perfekte exellente Verknüpfung mit dem Boogie. Die melodischen Spannungsbögen sind derart, wie man es selten hört. Wunderbar, ein Genuß. Nicht zu toppen!

The safe boogiwoogi rhythm of the left hand guarded, but left the right hand to experiment among the other keys. The result was an imaginative and totally sensual listening experience. I just loved it - Thank you!

Anyone that knows piano realizes that Chuck Berry, as much as we love him and deserves the crown 'king of rock n roll' that most of his songs are written in piano keys.....C, F, G. So Chuck had a boogie pianist, Johnnie Johnston, compose variations of boogie piano, with Chuck's lyrics and excellent guitar riffs tossed in with some drum kicks. It was renamed 'rock and roll', but originally it was an offshoot of boogie woogie, as Little Richard has stated and Jerry Lew Lewis admits.
@joeblack8915 Жыл бұрын
@lars, There's only one king, and it ain't Chuck Berry. Your knowledge of Rock n Roll is lamentable to say the least. It was a mixture of both black and white music, and was born in Memphis, Tennessee at Sun Studios. Don't try and argue about it, it just was.
@kingbee48185 Жыл бұрын
@@joeblack8915 Who then, in your ultimate wisdom, is the king? If you tell me that fat pig Elvis, the joke is on you.
@theaidanmann Жыл бұрын
@@joeblack8915 king ≠ first. While yes Chuck Berry didn’t invent rock and roll, he was extremely important in its success. The person who invented rock and roll isn’t king, it’s one of those who propelled it into the mainstream who is king. Without them Rock would’ve just became another genre and who knows what would’ve taken its place. It’s a toss up between Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Fats Domino and more. But IMO it’s Chuck Berry for what the OP of this thread had to say, he was the one to pull all the essential features together. And of course Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats still deserve credit for creating it in the first place, they just weren’t the ones who made it into what it is today (or was lol).
