Rishi Sunak faces a new year showdown over his Rwanda deportation policy after right-wing Conservative MPs said they could vote emergency legislation down if it is not tightened.
The Prime Minister on Tuesday won a crunch vote on the Safety of Rwanda Bill after spending the day in talks with potential rebels to avoid a defeat on his flagship “stop the boats” pledge.
Deputy leader of Reform UK Ben Habib has blasted the UK’s policy on illegal immigration.
Speaking to Jake Berry, he says: "That is blackmail and we must not give into it. If these people are choosing to try to enter the United Kingdom illegally we need to deal with it forcefully."

I've said this before but it will be ignored. The French have a coastguard and the SNSM, we have a coastguard, border force and the RNLI. Make these three ex-directory and stop picking up dinghies the moment they hit Bristish waters. It is the French who are waving them off and the French should face the consequences - they're being paid handsomely. If they had to have ships, boats and helicopters out day and night, they'd soon become keen on slashing dinghies. Moreover, news travels fast. If the migrants know there's no free water taxi rides and that the crossing are actually dangerous, the traffickers' captive audience would shrink very quickly indeed.

Where does he get this small boats bit from. Some of them have carried 50 people+. The French in fact are abandoning them. As for leaving them to drown. We do have assault ships with large numbers of landing craft with top class operators. Baring in mind the RNLI even entered French territorial waters and brought them back to the UK. Where were the French ? They were happy to get rid of them.

Do you really think any other boat would risk coming over the channel once one boat is capsized, this is the only deterrent there is. If people want to risk their lives then that's their perogative. As for the British people caring about this, he's wrong, most wouldn't care! Benn is totally right on this.
