@Drew the emergency lane alway works the same - no matter the number of lanes. If you are on the left lane go to the left side. If you are on any other lane (rigt one, middle one or second from right etc) you will move your vehicle to the right side. So there is alway an emergency lane on the left.

A German "Rettungsgasse" (rescue lane) works on more than 2 lanes as well: The left Most lane would pull to the left and everything else to the right, leaving a Lane between the two left lanes Issue is that a) people just don't Form a Rettungsgasse, but stay in their lane and b) even drive down the free lane, because they think they are sooooo important, hindering the emergency Services. As a german i can say that the "emergency lane" works actually bad. You know some people from germany think its nice to just drive throug the lane and block the Police Fireman etc. but the biggest problem is that on Highways some people arent german and they probably dont know about this method so most of the times the Rettungs-Gasse doesnt work that good but its still better than being an hour in the STAU while a persom bleeds out.
