Symptoms
In men, hair often begins to recede from the forehead.
Male-pattern baldness
Women tend to lose hair along the part.
Female-pattern baldness
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) is sometimes preceded by itchy or painful scalp.
Patchy hair loss (alopecia areata)
Repeated stress on the hair can cause a type of hair loss called traction alopecia.
Traction alopecia
t's becoming increasingly common for menopausal women to experience frontal fibrosing alopecia, in which the hairline moves back.
Frontal fibrosing alopecia
Hair loss can appear in many different ways, depending on what's causing it. It can come on suddenly or gradually and affect just your scalp or your whole body.
Signs and symptoms of hair loss may include:
Gradual thinning on top of head. This is the most common type of hair loss, affecting people as they age. In men, hair often begins to recede at the hairline on the forehead. Women typically have a broadening of the part in their hair. An increasingly common hair loss pattern in older women is a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia).
Circular or patchy bald spots. Some people lose hair in circular or patchy bald spots on the scalp, beard or eyebrows. Your skin may become itchy or painful before the hair falls out.
Sudden loosening of hair. A physical or emotional shock can cause hair to loosen. Handfuls of hair may come out when combing or washing your hair or even after gentle tugging. This type of hair loss usually causes overall hair thinning but is temporary.
Full-body hair loss. Some conditions and medical treatments, such as chemotherapy for cancer, can result in the loss of hair all over your body. The hair usually grows back.
Patches of scaling that spread over the scalp. This is a sign of ringworm. It may be accompanied by broken hair, redness, swelling and, at times, oozing.
When to see a doctor
See your doctor if you are distressed by persistent hair loss in you or your child and want to pursue treatment. For women who are experiencing a receding hairline (frontal fibrosing alopecia), talk with your doctor about early treatment to avoid significant permanent baldness.
Also talk to your doctor if you notice sudden or patchy hair loss or more than usual hair loss when combing or washing your or your child's hair. Sudden hair loss can signal an underlying medical condition that requires treatment.
People typically lose 50 to 100 hairs a day. This usually isn't noticeable because new hair is growing in at the same time. Hair loss occurs when new hair doesn't replace the hair that has fallen out.

Might add Derma pen to my temples and want to increase to 2.5mg oral minoxidil too in 3 months I feel more thickness but my hair is down to my nipples lost lots of density probably from shedding but also 5 months before getting on it if I can get just my hair 2 years before meds I'm happy but a thicker hairs version overthe moon.

I was just happy after 2 months my hair was filling in. Most people give up because they don’t see results gotta give it time.

@@talhakhan842 yes any hair loss on the head is DHT your testosterone is high and is killing the hair on the head. It’s weird because it’s good for growing hair on your arms legs chest face but kills the hair on the head. Finasteride helps lower the DHT levels and blocks them why’ll minoxidil helps fix the hair follicle and regrow it. The fixing process is what takes some time 2 to 4 months before you’ll notice hair on the head. Finasteride can help keep the hair that’s grown and minoxidil helps stimulate growth.

Side effects may be irreversible and include persistent erectile dysfunction, depression, suicidal tendencies, loss of libido, anxiety, and other neurological issues (ie. memory loss, altered mental status). Calladministration of finasteride decreases social interaction and results in cognitive deficits, potentially through a cholinergic mechanism. Further studies are required to understand the exact link between the cognitive effects and the cholinergic system.

@@mysteryuser7062 why would you need finasteride if transplanted hair doesnt fall out
@mysteryuser7062
@mysteryuser7062 Жыл бұрын
@@RobertEdwinHouse9 Because if you do not take Finasteride, DHT will continue to miniaturize your Native hairs. The transplanted areas are DHT resistant (not DHT *proof* either), but the rest of your Native hairs that aren’t transplanted will miniaturize without Finasteride. Joe Rogan is an example of this, as you can see his FUT scar on the back of his bald head. Rogan says himself even though the transplanted hairs grew, it still looked rather thin and the rest of his hair didn’t last much longer either. DHT must be blocked in order to effectively prevent hairloss of Native hairs but also to provide better environment for the transplanted hairs.

@@RobertEdwinHouse9 because if your prone to hair loss, it will continue to go recede and the transplant you got will stay, almost like being bald af in the back of your head but having a good hairline, trust me. Im 24 and i got a hair transplant in miami florida a year or so ago and im still noticing my hair thin and recede beyond the transplant, im going to dermatologist to hopefully get prescribed finasteride to stop hair loss then use little treatments such as minoxidil/ another hair transplant to get my hairline back thick and full, also would have helped if i wasn’t in a rush to get this procedure done, got 1500 grafts not realizing how thin and unatural it looks because you can see every transplanted hair almost like it was stitched on my head in a perfect pattern and its not thick at all, we are born with 10,000 grafts in our hairline area, take that into consideration with keeping your hair loss type in mind bro

I'm sorry Jake, but I am a little suspicious of these results. I use to go on r/tressless and so I know people get in heated debates over drugs like fin over there (I'm personally in the anti taking drugs camp to be honest). If they are actually growing their hair back with drugs only, no hair powder, then I think it's because the drugs are lowering their testosterone levels. As men, we want high testosterone levels, so I wouldn't want to lower my testosterone. Also, there are too many damn side effects. The first image with the dude taking RU-xxx, a research chemical, yeah....I don't trust taking research chemicals that are not approved and studied enough. I personally think it's better to either shave or get a hair system. But yeah, men do look better with a hair system, however hair systems come with so much baggage as well.

Very few people have side effects from finasteride or dutasteride. Many of the people reporting haven't even used the drugs or haven't been using them long enough. If you were to have sides when starting they usually subside after your body adapts. FYI finasteride and dutasteride actually raise Testosterone. It lowers DHT

Fin raises your test levels by about 15% on average as the 70% of dht that is no longer being converted is now split between estrogen and additional test. It's like a fraction more estrogen but mostly test. Less dht and more estrogen are a great combination to stop and even reverse hairloss

@@capo4ever334 Small in increase in estrogen usually isn’t an issue as long as increase T balances it out. The ratio is more important. Some people def do get side effects, but I wouldn’t say “a lot” do. About ten million people use Finasteride every year and if side feeds were very common, there would be a lot of noise about it and so many people wouldn’t use the drug. I mean, most guys wouldn’t give up their sex health for hair if they had ED, for example. But even on the long term 10 year Finasteride trials we see only a few percent had side effects, and this matches the patients of hair doctors. Every hear hair doctors actually have a meeting with the hair board and they ask all the doctors what percentage of their patients had side effects and if it is or isn’t in line with the rate we see in the trials and every year it falls in that small percentage of people who get side effects. So that’s pretty good confirmation side effects aren’t common. But it seems like it because the internet attracts the small number of people who do get side effects and they’re amplified, making it look like it’s more common than it is. And many of the ones among them are probably suffering from the no placebo effect as well. I think it’s best for men starting the drug to start at a very slow dose and work their way up to 1 mg so that it’s not a sudden shock to the body.
