our ancestors were forced into uncomfortable situations, that's how they become stronger. now that we have previously inconceivable conveniences at our fingertips, we must put ourselves in uncomfortable situations if we wish to continue to improve.

Considering I am Type 1 Diabetic, I can confirm I would absolutely die if all modern conveniences disappeared lol. You’re absolutely right about “challenging yourself.” I started playing clarinet last semester, and now I can play at the collegiate level. Good video :)

Thank you for the support and congrats on the clarinet skills! As far as you being a diabetic goes, hopefully we never have an issue that’s cut you off of your insulin supply, but I don’t think it’d be a bad idea to have a stock just in case. Honestly don’t know much about how that works or if it goes bad tho. Either way I wish you the best!

I started training jiu-jitsu 2 months ago because I wanted to change and challenge myself instead of playing video games all day,at first it was quite hard I was very bad and didn't understand anything, felt like quiting, but after a few weeks it started getting easier and I could understand the moves a lot better than when I first started.I think it is one of the best decisions I ever made and everyone should try stuff like that and challenge themselves, you should also remember that it will be really hard at first but it gets easier and you will see progress.

I love this video so so much It's so insperational For me I love Challenges that's what make it more fun is challenging yourself to be who you can become in life, Because If I didn't have the motivation to learn from others I would not be here on youtube today. Thats why I love the journey, the quest and the challenges. Life is like your in a medieval RPG game, Going through some quest, get upgrades, fighting your biggest fears, and so much more. With out challenges or quest life would be so boring yet interesting if there are no challenges to learn.

Btw, you don’t have to challenge yourself with something impossible. Like a 20km run when you’ve never run before. I can’t relay all the information I saw on a study. But if you push yourself even 1% more everyday. Growth is exponential, and in a years time you’d realize you’ve grown more than 365%.

I’m so accustomed to my comforts that I’ve decided in an apocalypse scenario I’d just hug the nuke/meteor etc., whatever kills us in the end. Could I survive in the apocalypse? If I train, sure. But why? Most of the things I enjoy in life will be replaced by scavenging and killing other scavengers. I don’t find that very much appealing. Or farming. Or living without AC. Or without my book club. And so on. One advantage, or privilege, as is popular to say nowadays, a prehistoric man has over modern humans is the blissful ignorance. He doesn’t know AC, so he doesn’t suffer from wishing for it.

some people would simply choose not to fight in that situation, and that's fair enough, it was more of a general point i was trying to make. you are correct about ancient people's ignorance to current comforts.

Victor Frankl's book, 'Man's Search For Meaning' really helped me with this too. I can say so much, but it should only mean something to ourselves, and within ourselves individually. But read that shit or at least watch a summery on his book or his experience.

Entertaining anecdote- though it seems to gloss over the effect of about 80% of Native people dying from the smallpox epidemic, completely shattering a generation and destabilizing the economy. The new Native lifestyle of game hunting and fur trade dependence was an adaptation for many nations to the extreme loss of their social fabric due to mass death. Corresponding dependence on settler firearms was seen by many as a bleak, disadvantageous, but necessary compromise. The Haudenosaunee confederacy for example consciously chose not to accept much technological exchange with settlers, when they had a choice before the catastrophe.

It’s good to understand history, so thanks for the lesson. Nothing is ever simple or black and white. There were other factors at play, but the inability to live the way their ancestors did due to change in technology was my point, which still stands.
