You skipped an obvious fact. Pariston is fascinated by Ging. One of the reasons Ging is elusive is Pariston wants to “play”. Pariston had his men attack he and Ging in a fake revolt so that Pariston could learn Ging’s Nen abilities. Pariston sacrificed men to do it since Ging dispatched them with ridiculous ease. Probably the only person that is a match for Pariston is Ging. However Ging has his own agenda.....

And to think that Ging manages to irritate him and toy him around (at least to certain degrees). Speaks volumes about how dangerous Ging is.

True terror in an HxH character is realized when you ask 3 questions: How strong are they? What do they want? And what will they do to get it? If your answer to all those is "I don't know" then they are both unpredictable and unstoppable. At least some of Tserriednich's current goals and powers are known, but we haven't even seen Parriston use nen before.

I think Pariston hates Ging because of the decisiveness he brings to the field. Ging is so perceptive, talented, and skilled that things are generally going to go his way in most situations (predictably so). He represents a stability that is counterproductive to the chaos that Pariston wants to create.

I hate that what he does in this show is what I do in games like Monopoly, I never want to win I just make sure everyone else has a hell of a time trying. Chaotic neutral with love for balance.

To me owning the chimera ants was only a bluff card. Yes he actually had it but it was a bluff if he would actually use it. It is one thing to have a trump card and a complete other thing to have the end game button. And if what you say is correct Pariston does not want the game to end. So the ants were primarily leverage. Now unless this was the final game then, no Pariston would not unleash the ants.

The reason I knew Pariston was powerful was when I noticed they are setting him up to be Ging’s rival for the DC ark. We already know how crazy strong Ging must be. He is the father of the MC and if you know anything about anime that alone makes him OP. So the fact that Pariston is being pitted against Ging or the fact that he even piqued Gings interest and maintained his attention should say enough. He will be a monster.

This reminds me of that episode of Star Trek TNG where Data is being outplayed in a game by an expert and realises he's not capable of being good enough to win, so instead of quitting he plays to stalemate the game and makes his opponent ragequit. Pariston is basically that lesson but expanded out into a whole character.

There was also the information we got about how Pariston enjoys / loves when people 'hate'. He then looked at Ging and stated 'I wonder what I'd do to someone I hate'. TOGASHI I NEED MORE

I think it's important to remember that the only real experience we have pariston with his motivations were basically solely to honor netero's memory. We've never seen him work with his own goals in mind, which is what going is so intimidated by

Togashi needs to lend you the manuscripts for the future plot points and just have you explain what he wanted out of the series. I've deadass consumed more hxh lore from you than canon materials because I haven't gotten around to the manga yet (Just about to start tho)

Pariston is like the embodiment of the fan base but within the show. Anything to keep the drama/game/story moving along and as interesting as possible. I dig this.

Pariston is the type of unhinged character I've come to love in most media formats. Motives are usually simple but, they can drive a story so well.

Pariston is such a brilliant character, definetely one of my favs. I dare to say he is one of the biggest if not the main threat in the series (and I'm not talking sheer power, but inteligence, guts, selfishness and political influence). I really hope Togashi gives up on giving up on HxH so we can see more of Pariston's potential.

Might be that his base power is to perfectly hide any expression of his Nen even while it's active, like a partial God's Accomplice - then as a Three-Star, he probably has extensions down that path. Kinda like rats in the walls - sometimes you never know they're there.

I remember my first time being introduced to Pariston. He confused the hell out of me. Now it makes sense. He thrives on complete order and logic and it makes him more capable of manipulating others and appearing in a certain manor that clouds his persona. He’s complete balance and wants things to go on infinitely. He seeks the “Game” and it makes him appear very mysterious. Something tells me he is far stronger than we think. I believe his persona goes into his powers as well.

3:37 that’s the line that sent shivers down my spine regarding Pariston. This dude is willing to put himself in unfavorable positions because he gets off on that and always seems to be able to work his way back to whatever point he desires. I feel like that goes against human nature of trying to find security and stability and limit the chaos in one’s life; that makes him very unnerving to me.

I always took “they couldn’t control him” as he was extremely rebellious, but I never realized that he was probably at the same strength as Netero.

I always see and hear people say 'Oh no be aware of Hisoka he's the worst and he's terrifying!' like ok he's very weird and his blood lust is scary but I hear no one talking about how scary Pariston is. Honest to God, watching HxH, Pariston was the one who scared and creeped me out the most, compared to Hisoka and even Illumi, Pariston is just another level of creepy for me.

I've always enjoyed pariston because he reminds me of that great type of villain like an aizen before he became power-hungry smart powerful very unique keeps it to himself but he also knows how to really manipulate the situation I just I wish there was more on Paris then because it's just like you can do a lot with Pariston Also Paris Tennessee is somebody who enjoys people he can't manipulate that's why he like Metro that's why he somewhat likes Jean because he can't aggravate them that quickly with his thing so he likes to play with them

Also, I think the reason Pariston likes Ging so much is that he realizes that Ging is the only opponent he's ever faced who could actually Beat him, even when he's giving it everything he's got. But Ging has gotten around this by simply refusing to play with him. And THAT, is what actually angers Pariston Hill, when he's unable to force someone to play his games.

Idk why but one of my favorite things in fiction is when two villains confronting each other. It's much more interesting to me than a hero vs villain. I know it won't happen but I would love a chrollo or a Paristan vs the 4th prince. To me that sounds like an amazing opportunity

I do think ging can handle Pariston easily though. In the manga, ging wasn't intimidated at all at Pariston that he even teases him being weak during the recruitment of the expedition of beyond and that makes pariston angry at ging. It's not like Pariston doesn't have a goal or anything, it's just that he is playing a different game than his opponent. It was mentioned in the manga that Pariston's definition about winning is being able to make his opponent angry at him, if he manages to make his opponent angry at him then that is a win for him, that is why he is fond of netero since he is the only person who doesn't get angry at him making his game more interesting. If his definition of winning is having the people angry at him then it is pretty obvious that his definition of losing is him getting irritated at his opponent. Netero didn't manage to do that, and now that netero is dead leaving the game they are playing as tie ( Since both of then didn't get irritated at each other) that is why he quit cause it's not fun anymore. That's where ging comes in, I think the reason Pariston was the vice instead of ging is obviously because ging didn't care about the position leaving Pariston the only candidate that netero can't handle ( The evidence to that is that only ging:Boar and Pariston:Rat are the only zodiacs who didn't change their identity that is related to their respective signs). The fact that these two are the only individuals in the zodiac that netero can't handle makes ging and Pariston tie at least in standings. The only difference to them is that ging know how to play with Pariston's game since he is always in the spotlight because of his status as vice-president and Pariston don't know ging at all since he is busy with his friends finding ruins (too busy that he left his fucking son just to satisfy his hobby). Ging already know Pariston's definition of winning which is why in the manga ging intentionally hit Pariston in his forte which is to make Pariston irritated, which is a success. In the manga at least, the only person who made Pariston lost at his game is ging.

It would be wonderful if Leorio was Pariston's natural Rival. More so wonderful because that would mean that Togashi wrote more chapters to reveal such a thing. 😭 come back hxh!!!!

I understand the fear of him you're trying to convey in this vid and I'm kind of oversimplifying it, but there are just two reasons that he doesn't scare me much at all. I'm going to preface this with the fact that I'm not caught up on the manga. I don't want to put myself in the position where I'm desperately waiting for more all the time. So, there may be some relevant details I'm unaware of. However, spoilers are my not so guilty pleasure. So I know quite a bit more about many manga I haven't read than the average anime watcher. First, as you so thoroughly detailed, he's impossibly unpredictable, but you've also done a great job of displaying that he's very predictable in his unpredictability. Which is always a comforting detail for me with both real people and fictional characters. If I can count on you to always zig when I assume you'll zag, or maybe even zag when I'm convinced you won't (as that's my first expectation) just to screw with me, then I'm forced to remain on my toes at all times. Which, with a character like Pariston himself, means simply watching him while I do my best to look like I'm not watching him. Even imagining my fictional self in the show, I can't imagine a self able to outmaneuver him, but I can imagine a self able to keep my head above water when in contact with him. Second, it should be very obvious to anyone really paying attention that Ging is not a "hero" in any way, shape, or form. I don't think anyone in this show really qualifies as such. Part of what's so great about it is that it deals near exclusively in various hues of gray. However, he has resolved to be an obstacle in Pariston's path, seemingly just because he's decided that his antics could interfere with his own goals. Which is very significant to me, because based on everything I've read, he is the one person in all of existence that Pariston can't handle. The one person in all existence who he can't get dancing on his palm, and rather than that, seems to consistently be a few steps ahead of him. Once again, Ging is obviously not a hero, and I can't remember if the goals he's trying to prevent Pariston from screwing with qualify as something that would be helpful to the populace at large. However, to me, his very existence seems like evidence that Pariston isn't quite the unstoppable monster that Cheadle thinks he is. Of course, he is a monster, but he has a bare minimum one weakness. Minor extra detail. Maybe I read into him too much, but I never want to take any of Netero's words at face value. It is frequently mentioned how similar he and Pariston supposedly are, so I feel that's logical. Also, that's honestly just what my gut tells me. As a result, for me, his statements about his difficulty dealing with Pariston create a boatload of question marks rather than any kind of fear of his potential power. Regardless, why did you have to choose the creepiest possible picture of Meruem? 😬

pariston in his true nature is very "terrifying" from lack of knowledge on him on top of the fact he's so nonchalant. BUT i truly believe ging is a hard kryptonite for him per se, because ging to me seems to be naturally above his level with the same carefree attitude on the outside. i think this may terrify pariston deep down, but he's developed his persona to try and counter that fear and seem like something he really isn't to almost everybody else. also netero only picked him as vice for the fact he couldn't stand him and was like an opposite of sorts attitude wise, but as far as feats/praise go, ging is far beyond any other zodiac as far as we know

This is why Leorio will be the next main character of Hxh after Kurapika. I even have thoughts of Leorio vs Gyro. Leorio vs Gon. Leorio vs Pariston would definitely be a different type of novel that is unlike of a shonen.

There’s a power in this book I’m reading that I think is something like Pariston may have. At any point in time they’re able to create a branch reality that allows them to test out anything they want. If they like the results they can stay in that reality, if they don’t they can simply switch back. In the book, the guy uses it (along with another persons power) to read out percentages of success and failures (for anything) and can use that information to accrue success dependent on how much or how little he manipulates those branching paths. But the point is, if he’s careful, the outcome will always be in his favor. And that’s the point where he and Pariston differ. Pariston would use the ability to put himself at a disadvantage if it meant keeping the odds against a worthy hunt closer to 50/50. It’s basically that marvel show what if except instead of the watcher he can choose to interfere as much or as little as he wants with little to no repercussions. But that’s where Ging is basically a natural counter to that ability, and a perfect rival to Pariston. As no matter what sort of variables he changes up, Gings resolve never wavers below 100% In fact Ging’s Hatsu should be called “me and *this* army”

Pariston wants the dark continent to be his new playing ground and the zodiac as an opponent, but when Ging decided to go under Beyond Pariston became upset because it disrupted the balance he planned from both sides. When he tried to kick Ging out of the party he gets annoyed because he was being read by Ging like a book. That's when he felt hate for the first time. I might be wrong but that's what I concur when I first read the chapter.

I thought so, Pariston IS a conjuror nen user. If my Hisoka 3D Personality Examination didn't 100% confirm my suspicions, this sure as Hell did. When Alluka healed Gon, Pariston didn't flinch, he took the opportunity to incorporate that into his strategy, and conjurors are known to do this in similar ways. As for what Pariston wants, he seems to want a challenge like Netero did, but not to get stronger, TO HAVE FUN. He essentially takes joy in toying with others, and the greater the challenge, the more fun he has. And it seems he'll take any opportunity to get his jollies, even putting himself at a disadvantage. Which would also speak well for his power, if he's willing to go as far as restricting himself in order to have his fun, and with him being a conjuror, that makes him even more terrifyingly powerful, as that could put him on Netero's level of nen use. To put it in blunt terms, imagine if Kurapika and Uvogine fought at the same level as Netero and Meruem, THAT'S how a possible fight between Netero and Pariston would play out, brawn vs brain. I don't view this as 100% correct, I'm NOT Togashi, nor am I HxH's author, I'm just using basic logic and observation.
