Hey! So I’m planning on doing reaction videos and vlogs on my new channel and I was between the M50 and the sony a6400 or the Zv1 but I ended up picking the M50. I don’t really mind spending that extra money for the mark II if its a little bit better than the original, so would you recommend me getting the M50 or the M50 mark II?

Nice video, Sagi. The M6 MK II solves a lot of these issues. I bought the M6 MK II body refurbished from Canon, and it was cheaper($687 with tax included) than the M50 MK II with the kit lens. I think it’s a great camera that is often overlooked.

Hey Sigi, I've watched a few videos on the Mark II and loved the other one you just posted. Not sure if you'll get this, but do you recommend this camera for a youtube cooking channel? I'm looking to get a camera and the Mark I was always highly recommended. Now the Mark II is out and only a bit more, so get that or do you just suggested getting an EOS?

120fps worked well for me when I recorded a video of the International Space Station crossing the moon recently, so it does have a use in some cases, even though the auto focus isn't great, which I wouldn't have used anyway.

what budget mirrorless camera would you recommend for sunrise/sunset photography and occasional short cinematography in both 1080p and 4k. Definitely with viewfinder. below 600? I've watched a lot of videos but i can't seem to come to a conclusion

So what should I do? I have original M50 with the kit lens and the 22mm f2. I want better slo-mo, clean HDMI output, and 4K with auto focus that actually works, and no additional crop. I also have EOS RP. And a 70D. One has to go (maybe 2) Does the 90D work well with these parameters? Is M6 MK2 a better choice? I have a very nice group of APSC lenses (sigma 18-35, 17-55 f2.8, 55-250 STM, EFS 10-18, EFS 35 macro) and a few full frame lenses as well. Or sell it all for the R6? I'm just doing this for fun, the M50 is so tiny and portable but it's also slow for photos (also fantastic for street photography) The video is nice at 1080 but slo-mo is a dud as well. Thanks 👽

I'm seeing conflicting info... Does the MKII have clean HDMI, with autofocus and no audio delay? The M200 does this but with audio delay. Hoping to upgrade to cameras for my Atem that have no audio delay with the autofocus.

I got my M50 MKII 4 days ago. So excited

I think I told you my story before but I'll reiterate. I have the M50 and wanted to wait for the M50 Mark II but timing was off. Plus I wasn't sure if they would get rid of the EVF the way they did with other m-series cameras. So unlike what you mentioned, I went straight to the R6 (which later traded in with the R5). The M-series is a dead end for a lot of people like myself. Not only do the lens selection "suck" but if you want to progress in your skills as a photographer, your only option is buying an adapter. There is nothing wrong with going to the RF system only if you need to. I went full frame for a specific reason I outgrew the M50's capability, and there nothing other than the M6 that is considered an upgrade but is not what I am looking for. If budget is not as much of a concern, I would recommend the R or the RP as it is a step above the M50 and you are also into a lens system where Canon is making investments in. Plus, there are rumours of entry-level RF cameras that would surely out-compete the M50.

in my country, m50 mkii kit price tag, it equivalent with m50 kit, adapter, speedbooster and budget 3axis gimbal if i take m50 mkii, i can only add speedbooster with current saving. but i also want new feature and future firmware update in m50 mkii. it's a tough choices

Another solid pros/cons video. Unfortunately for the M50 generally, it's only when you have actually owned and used one that you realise what a great little camera it is, notwithstanding the "equivalent" (though more expensive) Sony APS-C cameras are better in a number of respects (most importantly the quality of the 4K). I was very disappointed by the specs of the new Mark ii, though I always suspected the leaked specs that had excited everybody in fact related to another new camera entirely. However, the numerous minor improvements have nevertheless made it a good, general duty camera to consider acquiring, unless you are intending to do serious 4K vlogging. In my opinion it is still a useful second camera for 4K videography (i.e. on a tripod, focussed manually, subject not "bouncing" around).

Hey, great videos but you probably need to update these videos as we know for a fact that Canon is phasing out the M series. The M6 MKII is already discontinued and obviously, we are not going to get any more EF-M lenses. I heard they might drag out the M50 MKII. I was torn between the M50 MII and M6 MKII, and thankfully decided to visit a Canon Store nearby. That's when I learnt about this. After a lot of research and considering my budget, I went with the Nikon Z50 because of the kit zoom lens. I know a lot of people complain about that lens, but I will upgrade when I reach that level. For now, I am extremely happy. ps: I am pasting this comment on a few more videos I watched so that it can help others too. Not attempting to spam or anything.

I appreciate your videos. In fact, you helped me decide on the M50 MK2 for my own use. However, you're incorrect about the audio level meter. It DOES appear onscreen while shooting video if you cycle through the choices offered by the INFO button. This has been a very helpful feature since I shoot alone and like knowing that my mic hasn't disconnected or lost power while shooting. Cheers!

he Canon M50 and the M50 Mark II are absolutely IDENTICAL. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS A FIRMWARE UPDATE. Canon could easily update the regular M50, but chose not to. I suspect Canon wants consumers to consume, and 'force' them to buy the Mark II and make more money (as usual).

Hey, very good video. I just ordered my M50 MK II and I'm super excited. I like the way how you objectively mention pros (in the other video) and cons of the camera, without being judgy. Good work! One addition to the cons: You cannot use the silent shutter in manual mode. There is just one auto-silent mode which doesn't allow you to control much settings and burst is not enabled on this one. :)

this is a tier 2 vlogging camera. Hikers dont want it because its too heavy and the stabilization is junk, and vloggers dont want it because its low light is junk, and doesn't do 4k or 120p at 1080p with full audio and stabilization. This is a BASIC starter camera for a kid.

Love your camera videos. QUESTION: I shoot vid for You Tube. I shoot only in 720p due to file size and limits of my editing computer. I also like shooting photos. From snap shots to wildlife, which makes big zoom a nice option. I want a flippy screen, mic in, the ability to use shutter and arpeture priority as well as full manual. Auto focus is high on the list along with good colour science. Limited budget, very limited. Could you do something that would give a range of selection in this market segment please?

Thanks for the video, the quality of the videos is awesome! My story with Canon. I bought Canon M50 and only after that realized it doesn't have a clean HDMI output. My first thought should I just replace it for M50 MK II because I bought Sigma 16mm 1,4. But then I found out there is no clear path for full-frame cameras later. And in addition to Cannon's decision to make a new cam instead of new firmware for M50. I decided to move for Sony and bought A6400. Luckily I was able to change Canon and Sigma 16mm with Canon bayonet to Sony's. It costs me an additional 200$. But it solved a lot of my headaches.

Canon RF 50mm f1.8 lens, only $199. 85mm f1.8, only $599 which is not too bad for a full frame camera. The RF 24-105mm is not a bad kit lens and normally comes with the camera. But, it is true, the RF 24-105 f4L is 1,100 so yep, it can get pricey. Personally, I would expect this RF lens mount to stay in the Canon longer than the M mount, but both may be around a long-long time. The controls on the RP are great to work with and the Fv mode is very nice. I like the histogram in viewer and monitor. Spot -on about Sony mounts -- the one mount is a good idea. But when buying Sony you are getting Sony menus, and Sony handling -- it works for many - not me. I will say the dynamic range on Sony is much greater than Canon sensors. The Canon JPG color is great however. The camera lets you know when you are clipping those highlights, so it is user error if off a couple stops of more anyway. Another bit about Sony, is the usual low quality kit lens supplied to those just starting out -- Canon kits are better. -Loren lorenschwiderski smugmug

I don't shoot video, I'm a professional photographer shooting stills. I bought the M50 about a year and 4 months ago, and use it when I'm out and about not on a photo shoot. However, I have shot some excellent photos with it, I find it to be more than a capable camera and have ended up buying several lenses for it. My go to lens is the 15-45mm that it came with. It's sufficiently sharp and has a good range. I'm going to use it on a photo shoot soon and I have a feeling the images will be totally acceptable to my client. I typically shoot with either a EOS 5DMKIV or the EOS R. But this little guy does a good job for a crop sensor camera and it's easy to carry with you pretty much anywhere. I have the adapter for it but only used it once with a 35mm EF lens. I would highly recommend this camera to any photographer looking for a mirrorless camera that is somewhat compact, somewhat inexpensive, but yields good results. And, this being a Canon, you get that Canon color that no other manufacturer has been able to match--and an array of lenses that is pretty mind boggling. The M50 is not designed as a wedding or event camera, however, if you want to shoot indoors or use some fill flash, what I use is the Godox TT-350C. It's small, and powerful enough to bounce off ceilings or walls. I also use the small Demb Flip It diffuser if I don't have a nearby wall or a black or really dark or high ceiling. It's not going to be as strong or powerful as your Canon 600 RTII flashes or larger Godox units but it works, and it's light, and small, uses two AA batteries and you can pack it easily into a small camera bag or your pocket.

I was all excited after seeing the canon eos m50 and how it shot 4k and so I bought canon m50 mark 2 and realized they don't have the same things and it doesnt have 4k ,f$$$k. I waited a 5 days to pick it up too, this is some bull$$$$$$it
