A good melody is just like a good conversation between friends. You say the same thing over and over but put a different flourish at the end to lie to yourselves that it's going somewhere. Thanks for the terminology for antecedent and consequent phrases.

To make a good melody: 1. Limit yourself. I stick to just 5 notes - D, F, G, A and C. (Pentatonic scale) 2. Make your limit go up, then down. Repeat it until your neighbours complain. 3. Use cheap sounding synths or exotic instruments like shamisens. People remember then. 4. Make it super memorable by speeding it up to 174bm (or faster) 5. Congratulations. Well, that's that what I did...
