This video completely omitted the best clue to spotting if rice is ready if pan cooked - look for the little craters appearing across the surface of the cooking rice and when they appear across the entire surface you will get the best clue to the rice being ready.

I have ONE pot in my kitchen that cooks my rice perfectly. I don't question the miracle. I'm typically not good at it.

talc can be contaminated with asbestos. I haven't heard of talc in rice before.

Wild rice technically isn't rice. It's a wild grass, not related to rice.

Why does uncooked Uncle Bens look different from other uncooked rices? It's off white and smoother than the other brands.

Might be what it's enriched with, but if you're observant enough to buy all the brands of rice and compare, you're buying enough rice to justify buying it by the sack. Restaurants are buying their brown rice at ~30 bucks for a 50 lbs sack. Mars, Inc passing off a huge markup to add Uncle Ben's face.

No I haven't. I have been cooking it the way my Japanese sister-in-law taught me for over 30 years -- well rinsed Kokuho Rose rice in my Zojirushi rice cooker. Perfect rice every time. Sushi and sticky rice are prepared differently.

Zojirushi is so expensive but so good. I've got their 5 litre vacuum-insulated water boiler. Keeps it all at a boil for about the same wattage as fast-charging a smartphone.

2:50 Fifty minutes to cook rice over the stovetop is a total waste of time and energy. Presoaking rice overnight is a ridiculous waste. Nobody should be cooking rice on the stovetop. Rice cookers and especially electric pressure cookers are far more efficient. Electric pressure cooker water:rice ratios are 1:1. Rice is a staple food around the world, and it's not because everyone else is better at remembering ratios than you are.
