This was the hit. The “Gateway” Priest song for many. As great as it was to hear this break through on the radio in 1982 Hellion/ Electric Eye and Riding on the Wind were much better songs and really inspired the next wave of metal to reach higher. . I was one of the lucky millions who saw this tour live with a little band named Iron Maiden opening in support of their Number of the Beast album.

Ha! You are a scholar. I will offer myself as an anecdote to support your assertions. You've Got Another Thing Coming was in fact the hit song I heard a few times on the radio and my gateway to learning of this band; I loved it and had to hear more. Get Screaming For Vengeance, and now, years later, that is still my favorite Priest album, and Riding on the Wind is my favorite song from that album, so I also agree with you on that. Glad to hear you are also a Maiden fan, because that would also be my favorite band of all time, if I were to pick just one.

Freewheel burning kicks ass . It was like “ Rapid Fire Jr.”, it’s just a simpler song. I wasn’t slagging it in any way. It was like Priest channeling the mighty Motörhead. That was one of my “getting ready for a day at work, or a night at the bar” songs. Another testament to how musically versatile they were. That same band did Last Rose of Summer . Unreal talent.

This song was their radio friendly "anthem" and cruising song that got them regular radio play. If you want to hear them rip it off the same album, The Helion\Electric Eye, which open things off, Riding on the Wind, and Screaming for Vengeance (the title song).

"The Hellion" and "Electric Eye" absolutely must be listened to consecutively. You cannot do one without the other. No Judas Priest education would be complete without it.

I been listening and watching you guys for over a year now, and this is THE BEST SONG you've reacted to. The Straight Ahead Drive in this song, just makes you feel the POWER in the beat, and the song.

But I Can't Believe after this, and An Incredible Rock Career, The Group Gay Shamed Lead Singer 🎤 Rob Halford, and Kicked him out For a Time! Glad he's Back though!! ROCK ON!! 🤘

This was the song that introduced a lot of people to priest. Might try something early like Victim of Changes. His vocals are insane on that. They also did a great cover of a Fleetwood Mac song...The Green Manalishi.

This song comes as close as any to being the anthem of my freshman year of high school. Between this, "Eye of the Tiger," 'Come On Eileen," "Hungry Like the Wolf..." No year of the 80s was a great year for music, but '82 had some great songs.

Adding on to what others have said, the two part "Dreamer/Deceiver" and "Deceiver" from 1976's "Sad Wings of Destiny" will give you a look into their progressive early days. Maybe not next, they have a lot of material in the style your hearing now, so maybe you want to explore that more, but worth knowing there's another side of this group. "Victim of Changes" from this album is another such track if you're looking for something shorter.

I’ve referred to this song countless times over my lifetime, when I’ve needed simple motivation or to dig a little deeper within. The power of hard rock /early metal, positive and forward, not down and backwards like other genres can be.

This reminds me of the roller skating rink. They'd only play it once a night. Soon as the opening cords played, the floor was full and everyone was skating like they just stole your stereo - hard and fast. Man it as amazing flying around the floor at top speed, disco ball on high blazing like a small sun, all the colored lights flashing like you were at a concert. Only thing missing were flames but if you looked real close - I'm sure there were flames coming off our wheels.

There are dozens of great songs from Priest, but since you're here already, I suggest The Hellion/Electric Eye (Hellion is an intro) and let it play straight through Riding On The Wind after. Those "three" songs back-to-back-to-back are arguably the greatest introduction to a Metal album of all-time. Add in Screaming for Vengeance (the title track) and your faces could melt. The Sentinel- Deliverin' The Goods- Sinner- Metal Gods- Beyond the Realms of Death- Exciter- Dissident Aggressor- Freewheel Burnin'- Hell Bent for Leather- Killing Machine- Victim of Changes- Tyrant- White Heat, Red Hot- Desert Plains- Solar Angels- Eat Me Alive- etc., etc. etc.

Decent tune but it really sounds very formulaic to me. "Let's try to write a hit! We need A, B and then we'll add some C in there. They'll love it!" A lot of that happened in that era.
