Correction, albustan palace was never a home for the former sultan, it was build from ground as a luxury hotel.

Was in Oman a few months ago. Beautiful country and beautiful people! We also became friends with some locals who were extremely generous. They even meet up with the day we left and drove us to the airport. So kind!

The problem is people listen/hear about countries just from the media. And they judge the country before they actually do a research. Also people like to judge the whole middle east as if it is one country but every country is different in its own way. I am Omani by the way.

My grandmother took my whole family to Oman in 2010, we stayed in Salalah and i absolutely loved it! I was only about 10 at the time and I’ve always dreamed of coming back one day!

It is so amazing seeing the footage of Muscat. I lived there for 8 years, we would go camping often and the snorkeling was always incredible. The Grand Mosque is mind blowing, I’m not sure why you weren’t allowed in since I’ve been in many times and am not Muslim. Maybe you were there during prayer time? This video just reminded me of the vibe of Muscat and I miss it so much! Can’t wait for the next video!

Wonderful video! Two corrections though: The Al Bustan Palace Hotel was originally built as a hotel and was never a palace as mentioned. The Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is open for viewing to people of all faith, except on Fridays. Thoroughly enjoyed this episode ❤️

Oman, my dear sweet Oman. Lived here for many years loved it. It was a peace haven for us Pakistanis and as its blessed with natural beauty its a fantastic place to be in. Do go and visit Oman you will really enjoy it and surely go back with lovely memories.

I grew up in Oman from kindergarten to high school graduation! It is undoubtedly my favorite country in the world and I highly recommend everyone travel there! It not only has the kindest people, delicious food, and incredible natural beauty, but it's also one of the safest countries in the world. The connection to Sultan Qaboos is real, Omanis cherished him and even as an American expat, I was devastated when I heard the news. You guys did a great job capturing its amazing qualities, thank you for showing it to everyone!

Correction : Al Bustan Palace was neither built as a private home for Sultan Qaboos nor a luxury hotel. It was commissioned by the Omani government as the venue for the 1985 GCC Summit and only later converted into a hotel.

Correction, u can go inside the grand mosque, even if your not muslim. It's open to public on certain hours of the day. You can also take photos inside.

I was in Oman in the early 80s and the accolades I have seen here as being a very friendly people is spot on. I have never encountered such a friendly and polite people in the Arab world. Frankly it is a diamond in the rough and has to be discovered for its beauty and ruggedness.

@Lost LeBlanc just to correct you on two things that you have mentioned. Al Bustan Palace was never the Sultan's palace. It was built for the GCC leaders summit, and became a hotel. The Grand Mosque has visiting hours, where you will be allowed to enter the praying hall.

Lived there and adored the place. Even when I moved to Dubai, I would travel back as often as I could. Since leaving the Middle East to return to the UK, I have visited 2x and the place still captures my heart. The Al Bustan Hotel was especially built and the village re-built and 'placed' at the end of the beach. Best hotel in the world! Hoping to stay there in 2 years' time for my 70th birthday. If you have never been to Oman, they please try to do so. Fantastic people, fantastic architecture and views to die for.

yes its lovely magical place...unfortunately some people live in this Arabian Gulf region for years ( called the Khaleege) and don't know this...and think they are in the Middle East which is actually far Far West to here in the Levant.
