Kristen, take a paint brush, dip it water, lightly wet the edges of the napkin and gently pull the excess edges from the napkin to make it smaller. When you mod podge it down, start from the center and work outwards. The frayed edges of the napkin will blend in and look nicer. Also, when using a sanding block, sand in a downward motion (one direction) and not back and forth. That will tear the napkin. Just a few tips for you! I decoupage alot and those tips helped me when I started out. Hope they help you, too! I LOVE those napkins, btw!!!!

Hi Kristen, don't know if anyone told you yet, here's a tip, each napkin has either 3 ply or 2 ply, try to separate them and then use only the one with the design. Then jus put mod podge on the top of it, less wrinkles. I got the tips from Jody craft corner. But overall you did a good job. I love you projects. Thank you and God bless.

These came out adorable Kristin! 😍 It is very tricky getting the napkins on a surface without them wrinkling. I've tried different methods and some work sometimes and others work other times. But something I recently started doing is applying a little adhesive spray. DT has several types of adhesive spray and they work great. I don't spray the whole surface but just a spritz here and there. It helps keep the napkin in place until you get the mod podge on. The mod podge will penetrate the napkin so you don't always have to apply it first. I painted the roof of a small birdhouse with mod podge. I let it dry then placed the napkin on it and used a heat gun to attach it. A heat gun also works in place of an iron. The napkin went on beautifully and this is the only time I tried the burning method of removing the excess napkin. I actually went outside and set the edge on fire. It burned all the way around the roof and it smelled like toasted marshmallows! 😚 But you did very well with these projects, especially if this was your first time. Wrinkles will happen, almost every time. But sometimes they add character to the piece and make them more interesting. 😉 But we are our own worst critic. Everything you made was adorable! And with time and practice, you won't be so hard on yourself. It takes a lot of patience to decoupage with napkins. Some days I don't have enough patience so I save it for another day. ☺️ You also got some very beautiful napkins! That's half the battle. I'm finally finding more selections of napkins but I see crafters who find gorgeous ones. I kind of wish there was some type of co-op where people could exchange napkins. When you get a package of 14 or 18 and only use a couple, it would be nice if you could trade with someone who has other patterns. Thanks for sharing another great video! 🤩

I think they look great! My husband always reminds me that these little imperfections are what separate the "mass produced" from hand made. I see the imperfections of what I make, but no one else will. We are so self-critical! Sounds like you got some great tips below.

These are all so adorable ☺️ A tip I heard from another crafter was to dip a paint brush in water and dab it around the image you want to use and gently tear away the image then after you modpoge it down use parchment paper n lay it over the image to press down on it, it actually does help with some of the wrinkles. Either way these are all so pretty as are all your crafts 😊
