As John Jacobs states, an extended trail arm after impact is one proof of a sound swing. I’m a Mike Austin method guy and I don’t recall Mike talking of an extended right arm but as with any good swing, his is fully extended with a traditional Scottish roll over release. He modified it to a slap-hinge release just before his stroke but he (longest recorded PGA tournament drive at 515) was getting well over 300 at 75 years old. As a lifelong (47 years of golf) student from what I believe is the first instructional book, Farnie’s Golf Manual to Vardon and just about every major instructor including Moe and S&T, I find your instruction to be very informative in ways not yet conveyed by the teaching greats. Per Homer Kelley, over a million ways to advance the ball; everyone’s got to dig theirs out of the dirt like Hogan.

Good clarity. Been working on decreasing loft for irons at impact, getting good distance, but need consistency. Will work on these drills.

Good drills. The second drill really helps you use your left leg as a power source because you naturally push into the ground and straighten the leg when you put the brakes on to stop at 3 o’clock. There is so much emphasis on getting weight to the left side that a lot of golfers are moving their entire body and head left and getting way ahead of the ball. I’d like to see a video addressing this. Thanks

Its not often I comment on instructional videos. However as I was heading to the range anyway, I thought I'd watch and implement....wow, what a difference. (by and large) straighter and certainly longer shots with irons...didn't try with woods just yet. Amazing how addictive it became. PW from 130 to 142 average within 3 swings......thanks mate!

U r also very stable over the ball w weight mostly on front leg (stack and tilt) which promotes full rotation and club stability...
@jchowngolf
@jchowngolf Жыл бұрын
Not quite stack and tilt, just a tad more weight on the lead side. More for low point control, it has no real rotational benefits

Executed on Tuesday, shot 78, only 2 missed shots, everything else was crisp. Great warm up drill.

How do I do this if I shank it?? When I try this I feel “late” or sometimes over the top

Hybrid went from 86mph to 93. 8iron from 150 to 167 yards. Tried this for the last half hour in the sim, body has to rotate a lot more than I’m used to, to get the arms straight to the target. I’m hoping this isn’t just a swing thought that stops working in a couple of days, fingers crossed

How do you get the sensation of being wide without chicken winging it?
@tomgerste1818
@tomgerste1818 Жыл бұрын
So no follow thru around the body? Stinger like punch shots,? Or practice this and then a full swing,?
@jchowngolf
@jchowngolf Жыл бұрын
You can still be wide with a full follow through. Practice first, always practice first.

This doesn't make much sense. It sounds like there is a considerable amount of valuable information missing from this video. Practicing your pose after impact does not make you a better ball striker or golfer.

The info about the topic is all there. Self organisation via achieving a position that will create a good move through impact to achieve. It’s just a different learning method to get the job done 👍🏼
