Amazing :) My friend tried to ingratiate himself by saying something mildly critical about Sweden and it's immigration. The young belarussian dude just really calmly said "Here we like all kinds of people". At least that one chill dude really seemed to believe it. Also met a nice elderly man who laid flowers at the feet of a statue of Pushkin. Know a little bit of russian, so tried to speak to him :) Not trying to gloss over the very real problems with the political system, and only saw a miniscule part of the country/society. Still, it was quite the experience.

Thirty years ago I think the same. But I was wrong. Here in Belarus the time froze. And now I look at these young people and hope they will not repeat my mistake to stay here. All our efforts, time, patience and sacrifice was just wasted.
