my parents never bought me. at 22 i bought my first horse last year and it was 100% worth the wait. not having a horse my whole life meant i was able to ride a variety of horses and really understand exactly what i wanted in my first horse! I was also able to get a fairly nice horse at a very good price because he had been out of work for a few years.

Emma Rose Don’t worry everyone must start somewhere! When you get to the stage of jumping your going to have the best time! It’s so much fun😆☺️ also important tip for jumping ; wait for the jump to come to you ---> meaning sit back and only do jumping position when your horse takes off!☺️

Love Peach! I have been following her story for several months now. I know she will go for a break now, but maybe for after: I would advise to put the jumps at min. 40-50cm. Having the poles so low can be confusing for a young horse. I prefer to make it really clear for them whether they should jump or just lift their legs a bit higher. You could tell she was unsure what was expected from her at some points, because the jumps were just a bit too low to really jump. Hope that helps!

When I was a kid we had a pony who I am entirely convinced was magical. He would have a full rug, neck covered and securely fastened to his legs, and somehow BE ENTIRELY CAKED IN MUD UNDER IT. The rug would also be somewhat dirty but not to the point that his actual body was. I always remember cleaning him off almost everyday (he loved being brushed and was super fond of me) and having my dad help me rug him, and then boom MUDDY PONY.

when i was a novice rider i had a very young gelding that was 3 years old and had never done any jumping before and i really didn't give it any extra thought so when on trail riding there was a fallen tree across the trail as we were trotting along and without second thought my young horse jumped over it like a pro. That was our first experience together on jumping. He enjoyed learning more about jumping in the show ring. He was super athletic and enthusiastic about it. Later on In the show ring when my young horse was learning how to jump , i had a friend with me as she rode her horse and i had mine at a safe distance behind, i had my horse follow her horse over very low jumps, and he picked it up quickly.

I think it was a good idea to make the rainbow jump a bit higher. A lot of young horses that are used to pole work can get confused with really low jumps. They often don't really understand whether they're expected to jump or to trot over like with poles on the ground. Usually, once the jump gets bigger, the horse knows it's too high to trot over so they naturally just start to do a proper jump. Don't be afraid to put the poles just a bit higher 'cause it'll probably just help her to understand the concept of jumping.

She's doing well and you can tell she tries. Gonna change the topic but has Tic Tac been started on basic ground/in hand training? Things like halt, walk, trot (... well maybe it might be too early for trot in hand), or back up on command? Not sure if a yearling is considered too young for that though so just curious.

Depends on your ability and what discipline you ride Irish sport horses are great all rounders Quarter horses are good, especially for western Warmbloods tend to be really good at dressage and schooling but tend to be quite expensive Thoroughbreds are speedy Its more about temperament, ability and build then it is breed. www.horsemart.co.uk/ has a lot of horse ads
@equestrianfeminist9097
@equestrianfeminist9097 4 жыл бұрын
Yes^. I like Thoroughbreds, personally. They can be rangey in terms of temperament, but are not terribly expensive and are wicked talented. Warmbloods of any type are certainly talented, but quite expensive. Many Irish Sports can be expensive as well, but they are lovely and make great sporthorses. Quarters are good all arounders, they can do a lot, especially in the western world. Draft horses or draft crosses can also be great. If you have a draft x Thoroughbred, that’s technically a first generation Warmblood. Arabians can be rangey temperamentally, but like TBs can be super gentle and talented. They are as also great all-arounders.
