On Saturday 13 July 2013, one of the hottest days of the year, members of the Young Bellringer's Facebook Groups invaded London for an outing, organised by Mr James Ramsbottom. We started at St Giles in the Fields, an OK 8 by many different founders, rehung by Whites in 2006 when they were also tuned. Unfortunately, a lockout at St Martin in the Fields followed this tower, leading to an extra long lunch!
The group then went onto St Clement Danes before heading to the brand new 8 at Garlickhythe, the Royal Jubilee Bells, cast by Whitechapel; they sound delightful!
Finally it was onto St Vedast Foster Lane; a stately post-War Mears 6. Here, I was put in charge and suggested Grandsire Minor. James betted me a pint that I couldn't get it round; I duly obliged and did! Shown here is the plain course; we went straight into ring a 3-home touch but a) not all of it recorded and b) I don't want to bore you all just to prove a point; the ringers on the outing will vouch for me!!
A thoroughly enjoyable day, even if it was an absolute scorcher - you can probably see the amount of sweat on my face during the Stedman filmed at Garlickhythe! Thanks due to James for such an excellent day out!
Other KZfaqrs also star in this video; see if you can find lunaticonthegrass111, MrDoncaster10 and Great Barton Bells to name but three!
