Also, that scene from YR where Sara and Simon were in the kitchen and Sara said "nobody likes me when i'm myself" and Simon told her "I like you when you're yourself" reminds me a lot of when Tori was hugging Charlie in Heartstopper scene and Charlie said "I seem to ruin everybody's lives" and Tori told him "You're not ruining mine" and idk i think both scenes are so sweet. Love these two shows a lot, deserves all the love it gets

I can't decide if I like Heartstopper or Young Royals better. Yes, the story lines are somewhat similar, but at the same time, so different. I feel like Heartstopper is more for a younger audience, and it's kind of a cliche love story between two young boys, and a bunch of side characters, with some cringy but extremely cute lines, and story line. With Young Royals, it's for more mature audiences, and it's a more realistic LGBTQ+ story line, and there aren't really any cringy moments, or anything like that. So, I like those two shows for very different reasons.

And the fact that Simon and Charlie (who are both out) often wear yellow and Wille and Nick (who are figuring out their sexualities) often wear blue…😍

Heartstopper is more like a utopia, something to watch for happiness, but young royals really digs into my heart. Personally speaking I like darker stories, so I like yr a little bit more, just a little more. I am so obsessed with hs too 😩

OK imma tell y'all why I think young royals is better than heartstopper (I am a film student, I only started like two months ago but imma act like I know what I'm talking about hehe) Heartstopper is great. I watched it four times. It's the perfect butterfly show you watch to feel good. It helped me a lot and it was like a safe space for me. Now that that's clear, I think it is pretty cliché, and by that I mean that it has been done before. Many times. There's one main storyline and it's just straight forward, it's interesting and all, but it's not really complex or shocking or anything like that. And the human brain is kinda simple, we love to see new things that are interesting and bold. Now you may say 'but young royals is a teen show about gay boys in school, it has been done before' and that's true. However, EVERYTHING in young royals is new. The cinematography, the composition, the editing, the style the music is used, the way the characters are portrayed, I've never seen that, especially in a show. And the story is not cliché. It doesn't require homophobic classmates to make it interesting. It faces a lot of problems with amazing timing and perfect pacing. And if I may add: the relationship between Wille and Simon is incredibly healthy. They show what good communication looks like, and dedication, and putting yourself first, all of what bad relationships lack. Honestly the way young royals is really brings out my inner nerd because it is brilliantly done, but in a way nobody has ever seen it before, especially not put together like this. It really plays with contrast and keeping the viewer interested. One second the school choir is singing, the next one there's loud music. They always find a way to link the scenes together perfectly, but in such a provocative way. I will never stop talking about young royals and use it as an example of how things can work when you know absolutely everything in your workfield but then take it a step further, which is how I would describe every single person in the production of yr. But let's be real, both heartstopper and young royals we're 10/10s for different reasons. Heartstopper is exactly what it's supposed to be.

Young royals best series❤

Watched Young Royals after finishing Heartstopper and was struck by the similarities between these two very different shows. The furtive stares, the hand touching, the low key cyber stalking, even the kisses. If this is the formula for boy meets boy romance I'm totally on board. Both shows are stunning in their own way though I did slightly prefer Heartstopper (sorry!)

I’ve been reading heartstopper since like 2018/2019, but I definetly think young royals is better than the series adaptation. Mostly becuase of how unique and exciting the entirety of YR is. I can’t really compare the comics becuase it is in a different format, but series wise, I think YR is superior.

I honestly liked heartstopper better than young royals, but young royals was really good! Maybe it’s just cause I read the comic too, but 🤷‍♀️

I prefer Young Royals coz it has a more tense plot & conflict that makes you wanna keep knowing the story, it's not only about cheesy-adorable-meet cute plot So if you want some Tense plot & conflict/drama, I recommend YOUNG ROYALS but if you want some cute adorable plot, I recommend HEARTSTOPPER

I found out about young Royals through ✨Pinterest✨ because I was looking for heartstopper things and kept thinking Wilhem and Simon were Nick and Charlie

I like to not compare them, yes they are similar but I don't think about which one is better. They are both cute and enjoyable for their own reasons, yes they are similar but they arent the same which I enjoy.
