About Young Sheldon:

Paige is as poorly adjusted as he is. She just presents more "normal" so people don't see it. Also, letting certain people win to avoid a confrontation is actually a mark of high EQ, which neither of them has.

Paige was partly right. Sheldon did grow up to be a bit of a social misfit and weirdo but man, he got pretty lucky! I don't really know anyone who has the same 5+ good friends as adults. Most people i know have like 300-1,000 social media friends but only have like 2 or 3 good friends irl and maybe 1 super close friend after 25.

The fact that we can see this so clearly on the show compared to others is why it sticks out without looking for it, because other shows do this. Let me tell you, if Missy and Paige were at a kids' play center and encountered some ride-on bouncy balls, they would immediately get on them and bounce all over the place, which will definitely leave Sheldon dissatisfied, should he see that.
