Sue, her daughter Faye and friend Wendy discuss Sue's diagnosis, as well as their techniques for getting on with life. We also hear about Sue's life in Liverpool in the 1960s, and her love of gardening.
Sue is a true 'Liver bird', growing up in Liverpool just as the Beatles emerged on the scene. Ever since her diagnosis with Alzheimer's nearly two years ago, her weekdays have been divided between her daughter, her son-in-law's parents and her paid carer. 'Everyone's been brilliant,' she says. A former bank clerk and teaching assistant, Sue is a doting grandmother and is as active as ever. 'I'd rather keep busy than sit around,' she explains. Sue loves shopping, dancing and going to the theatre, and twice a week goes to her local Alzheimer's Society, where she is the life and soul of the party. 'I get them all up dancing - whether they want to or not!' she laughs.
This film is part of Alzheimer's Society's Remember the person campaign, which asks people to think about the individuals living with dementia and not just the diagnosis. Alzheimer's Society is asking people to think about the people they know living with dementia and about the simple things they can do to make life for them more manageable and enjoyable.
