His playing has always been on another level, but recently he seems to have added maturity to it and evolved further. He has matured as a person through many experiences, and I think this is reflected in his music. I have never seen Yngwie speak so calmly and respectfully, without disrespecting other guitarists, but still saying what needs to be said in a way that others can understand!

I love the new Malmsteen album. Usually I'm not so keen on very fast tempos but even the fast ones, I like them a lot. The whole record has a mixture or energy and soulfulness and his vocals are excellent, he sings like plays, with a lot of emotion! Some great musical ideas, the chords in God Particle are beautiful and the descending sequence in Sea of Tranquillity is extremely cool!

He’s got the record for most cover appearances, but it’s the same old questions though, right? I enjoy watching Yngwie all the same, because he’s my favourite player. But, man… it’s all the same questions. As a life long fan, I wish I could ask him some new fresh questions. I could literally sit in for him for any interview from the last 15 years. Does he have extreme guidelines on what he’ll actually talk about?

@JedNadin 3 жыл бұрын
Anyone saying Malmsteen is repetitive or always the same hasn’t listened to his entire back catalogue and/or has a pretty undiscerning ear. From the beginning to end of each decade his playing has changed drastically. His phrasing, his approach, even how he incorporates arpeggios is entirely different since Relentless. How many of the big name “premier guitar players” have really changed their compositional and playing style over the years? Paul Gilbert has. But I can pick a Vai or Satriani song without hearing their lead playing. Slash is very Slash. Even someone as competent as Govan has his idiosyncratic tendencies, licks, and techniques. Like a pro wrestlers five-move set. It’s just style. And Yngwie has tonnes of it, enough to deserve better than being so constantly branded as a one trick pony. The worst thing is Far Beyond the Sun, Blackstar, Trilogy, and Evil Eye seem to be his biggest hits. People hear them and state “heard them, heard ‘em all”. What about “Save Our Love? No Mercy? Enemy Within? Bedroom Eyes? Vengeance? Wield My Sword? That’s some eclectic composition right there, with very different guitar playing, production, and lead work.
@Nghilifa
@Nghilifa 3 жыл бұрын
@@JedNadin Save our love is just a straight up ballad though, with classical sensibilities. Bedroom Eyes is also great, but it's just a straight up rock number. All genres have scale/modal patterns etc that's common to that genre, so all music in general, is repetitive. It's not a bad thing imo.
