When I first met my husband he loved drinking all the time....His addiction took over..I stayed and helped him...went to AA, and ask Jesus to helped him....We are married 44 years...He is sober 45 years....He took it a day at a time....I am so blessed to have the best husband..I told him...He was my diamond in the rough..

I only heard this song once and fell in love with it. My husband didn't drink but when I first met him. It was drugs that he used to take and like you said. I stood by him taking it one day at a time. I was the one with the alcohol problem and the weird thing was that all it took was 1/2 pt daily. I met him in a detox program and even though they say not to start a relationship with anyone in a program. We did and I waited 10yrs to say "I do" and he was the happiest man in the world. Vegas there we went. Sadly to say that after 32 years together he passed 9 days before our wedding Anniversary. I know for afact that there's only 3% of good husband like the one I had. It's going to be 2yrs and I miss him every second of the minute. Good luck to all those who are going through any kind of addiction.

Your story is sooo inspirationally touching. Addiction is a demon, and I wouldn't wish it on the devil. Only God can give you the patience of endurance to help a person to break free. And it's even more difficult when there are people (family members, etc.) in their lives who do not know what the ef it's all about, and instead of helping, they are antagonists. That's my story

I don't know where you get 3%, but it sounds right to me from what I've seen. I've lucked out in that area and don't know why. My husband has stood by me 22 years of me fighting drinking and drug addictions. I'll never understand why.

Stapleton nails this song! Originally written and recorded by David Allen Coe, it was also previously covered by George Jones; but Chris gives it the "bluesy" feel it truly deserves.

Some of my family and I used to go to karaoke, often to the same place. At one of the bars/restaurants an old man and his wife would be there and he would always sing this song. One of those times, I noticed that he was not there but during the session,an old lady came up to the stage and proceeded to sing this song. It was his wife and she dedicated that performance to her husband who had recently passed away. I still get emotional over that every time I hear “Tennessee Whiskey “ and it is still one of my very favorite songs.

I showed this song to my wife and it finally hit her why this song is a favorite of mine: I subliminally sing it about her. Because I used to spend my nights in a bar room, I drank a lot to kill the pain on my mind, and ultimately she rescued me from reaching for the bottle and brought me back from what I thought was "too far gone." I could keep quoting this song but you get the point, she's sweet as Tennessee Whiakey, sweet as strawberry wine, warm as a glass of brandy, and besides the occasional smoke, I'm always stoned on her love

Met the love of my life and married her, unfortunately I had a drinking problem that I kept hidden until financial difficulties brought it to the surface and I went from being a functional alcoholic to non-functional. When I realised I was losing the love of my life I stopped drinking, and she took me back. However, 6 months later I fell off the wagon again. This time was too much for her, I never drank again after that. I quit drinking but at the expense of the love of my life. This song makes me think of her and makes me sad to think what I lost. That extra chance I needed to get dry, was one too many for her.
