Its just a mix of hay manure doody wood grass coffee grinds and anything i have laying around or think it would be useful. I am a no tiller for 10 yrs and cover crop everything . Raised amazing soybeans last yr w no fertilizer. Treat all seeds w ryzobia and mycrorizae . 1 field had 100 + soybeans . No till into cereal rye let it mature burned it down chemically . Drilled on 15 at 120 pop . Thats the only chemical used . It flooded out yr before . Drilled a 12 way after water receeded. Everything winter killed but rye . I had 1 plant had 442 pods on the plant . I have pics of it . I want to get compost applied to seeds dry if i can . Its all about the soil bacteria and fungi . Those beans had enough nitrogen nodules at r8 end of growing for 200+ corn .

@@noahmiller6443 We applied a similar solution of a biological, Quantum Growth, by spray onto our 8 acre perennial peanut pasture to good effect just before a rain (to ensure. I'd just estimate it boosted growth of hay production by 30-40%. You might find a chemigator at machinio for injecting with irrigation.

Please tell me if you think my extract process is OK. Small scale. Just my garden. I put my measured Jo-Su compost into a bowl. I pour, from my measured water, just enough water so that the compost is loose in the water, then I agitate it for about 20 seconds. I pour that "extract", through a screen, into my spray container. I put that compost back into the bowl. I repeat this process until the measured water runs out, and by that time the water is close to clear. I don't assume much of the bacteria is stuck to the compost by that time. Do you think this is OK?

@@youngredangus6041 One thing we have on our side here is water. I use to farm around 3,000 acres row crops and 300 acres of tobacco. 2020 wiped me out w row crop. We’ve had so much flooding here in past 5 years. I’m 47 and never saw a flood until 2014. We’re pretty much just vegetable farming now. I’m really wanting to add cows to my farm. I only have 150 acres w plenty of ponds and really good land. I want to do on a small scale what you’re doing w cover crops and cattle. I do plan on growing 100 acres of corn. I’m wanting to grow an early 90 day corn next year and soon as I harvest corn going in and no tilling milo right behind it. It’s usually late December here before we get a frost. I still got all my equipment for row crop farming. Planters, drill, combine, sprayer etc

@youngredangus6041

I’m sure the fungicide does kill some of the fungus but the response from the seed once it in contact with the fungus still produces exudates.

@youngredangus6041
@youngredangus6041 2 жыл бұрын
Great question Yes it would be. But you can get by using less compost this way and Dr David Johnson and Lance Gungerson both said the best way for the plant to respond is by soaking the seed
@mirsidorov5112
@mirsidorov5112 Жыл бұрын
@@youngredangus6041 Pre soaking and then spraying in the furrow/or planting hole close to root/seed yield the best results with foliar being the least effective for growth, although foliar is great for pest control, if you have any pests, because the healthier the plant, the less likely for any pests (check out Dr Thomas Dykstra's presentation "Why insects cannot and do not attack healthy plants"

this is not a good idea as i see it because of all the fungus and stuff that could be on the compost. it might be too saline for the seed, which in any case does not need nutrients for the beginning. compost applied as mulch inhibits some of the small seeded weeds because they need to see light to germinate. mulch also cuts soil surface evaporation. if you have enough leaves to pile up several inches around plants, you need not compost them. if i had compost for the wheat i would apply it with a manure spreader so long as it was not enough to bury the seed too deep.
@youngredangus6041

All the fungi in the compost is good compost Do you know that much about Johnson Su compost? Also are you aware of Dr James Whites research out of Rutgers University and what he has done with endophytes? Anyway I disagree with you. What's different is that it's a high fungal compost. It's the fungal networks that allow the plants to make better use of the nutrients already in the soil
