Hello Drew, i hope you are doing well. First of all congratulations for your precious channel and for helping thousands of people with your tutorials. I have recently bought a full X32 but i am really struggling, despite watching hours of tutorials, to understand how i could achieve the setup i want, because 90% of the online content is dedicated to live use or church use. In my case, i have a little home studio and i will use the X32 only in a composing and recording studio configuration, with no public and the only artist in the studio would be me, or maybe rarely another singer or instrument player. For the moment, i own a standard X32 and an X-Live card intended for recording on sd cards. I have a very old computer that i must keep because i still use windows XP and i have a lot of old songs in it made on Logic before they moved to only Mac... In my computer i have an audio interface which is a RME Raydat, allowing for 32 ins and 32 outs, in Adat optical format. I also have a nice adda converter for Adat to analog which is a Ferrofish Pulse. The fact is that i have a lot of nice outboard gear, that i have grouped in 8 stereo analog busses, 4 mono analog busses, and also 5 FX analog busses, and lastly one analog stereo masterbus. These that i call analog busses are groups of hardware machines i have linked through many Samson patches in order to process my signals. For example, the one i call analog stereo masterbus is a set of 5 machines (linked in serial) that i intend to insert on the main masterbus of my mixes (a Looptrotter Sa2Rate followed by a Warm Audio Buscomp followed by an Avalon 747 followed by a DBX Quantum 2). All of my 8 analog busses are different sets of 3 or 4 machines linked in serial, generally a specific saturation machine followed by a specific compressor followed by a given Equalizer. For example one of these busses is made of a Drawmer 1973 (multiband compressor) followed by a Drawmer 1976 (multiband saturation) followed by a Drawmer 1974 (4 band vintage sound EQ). The fact that all these machines are used in 4 Samson patches allows me to easily change the composition of any chain, by adding another machine in any chain or removing one or even swapping the order, and, as you know, this is done through short patch câbles. Nothing new here lol The 5 FX analog busses are made of dedicated Reverb machines, or multifx machines, like for example the Lexicon MX400XL, the Behringer VVerb (which is really awesome for the price by the way!!) Or the TC Helicon Voiceworks. All these 5 busses are stereo machines which can be plugged with either analog or digital connectors. So, if possible, i would really like to avoid using the USB streaming interface from the X-Live for outputing my channels from the computer and i would rather use the Adat out if my RME Raydat card. My plan is to play my different tracks in my daw, to output them through Adat and converter to the X32, let's say for example 16 tracks. Then i would like to route these tracks to subgroup busses in the X32 (let's say 6 stereo subgroups, and 4 mono subgroups). Then i would like to insert in these subgroups any of my 8 available analog hardware busses, and then send the busses to the master of the X32, on which i would like to insert my analog stereo masterbus chain. And the goal is to record the final masterbus on the X-Live sd card, and also record each subgroup along on the X-Live sd card. So it is typically a hybrid recording and mixing studio configuration. I don't need broadcast or front on house or behind the house or above the house lol, i don't need iem, or pa monitors or any of all those things dedicated to live usage or church usage or touring etc... For my purpose, of course i have 3 pairs of different nearfield monitors, but it is only for checking my mixing and for that i use a Presonus Monitor Station v2, which is connected to the Monitor output of the X32. And my monitors are all on the Presonus outputs (A, B and C). At last, my question is, in order to achieve such a configuration, do i need to add to my X32 a S16, or a S32, or another X32 (rack version because i would not have the place nor budget for another full X32). You might wonder why i need to use all this outboard gear. Well i had a big accident 11 years ago which left me tetraplegic, so for me it is easier (and also more fun lol) to manipulate big buttons on those machines rather than using a mouse and plugins etc). Plus my computer is very old and as weak as me but i love to keep it for what it does. Plus i really prefer the sound of outboard gear and that is a question of personal taste i guess... Drew i am really sorry for the lenght of my message but i really do need your help as for now i am stucked in the middle of nowhere and my goal is to be able to mix my own beats in order to maybe sell them in a beatstore. The fact is i can't really get a job now that i have more than 80% of disability and as you know times are getting harder and my disability pension becomes less and less sufficient to pay for everything. So if you can help me to get my setup running i would really appreciate. I am really afraid to buy the wrong gear and then discover that it can't help to get my setup working as intended... This is a great explanation of how to run the input signals through one console into another. I know another would be to run a second long cable from the AES50B port on the DL32 stage box into the second mixer, effectively using the DL32 as a splitter. My question is, in that scenario and also for the one in the video what determines what board outputs feed the outputs on the DL32?

Hey Drew! Real helpful info. Quick question that I hope you can answer for me quickly lol. We have two X32s setup at my church as well, FOH and Broadcast. Running a digital snake to the FOH for all inputs, then running the broadcast mixer directly to the FOH board via cat 5. Is there a way to route sound back from my broadcast to FOH? Our video announcements and intro videos are done from a computer that’s in the production suite , where the broadcast mixer is. We won’t to be able to hook that computer into the broadcast mixer, but also get that same channel to feed in FOH. If this is possible, please help

Great Video. We recently did this exact setup minus the stage box. We did have an issue as we use some local for preservice music. I am going to change to user routing. My question is how do I send audio from the broadcast back to the FOH? Not always necessary but we have had an occasion where this would be helpful

hi Drew! Thanks again. Quick question: I have my own IEM rack, with a X32 rack in it. We are going to play for a gig in a place where the front of house consol is a X32. All stage mics are connected to this FoH consol. I wonder if it would be possible to take all channels (pre-faders) of the FoH consol and input them into our X32 rack on stage to feed our IEMs, via an RJ45 Ethernet shielded cable between both mixers? If so, could you explain how to make the routing of the two mixers?

Drew, I think I might have it, but my scenario is slightly different. I run a X 32 rack with mics pre connected and a DL16 ready for the band as a stand alone unit! That unit is used when I do smaller gigs with space issues. When I do larger conference gigs, I bring out the X32 full console. How would I connect the full 32 to the rack and the DL 16?

I've already connected via AES50 two X32 consoles BUT i find a trouble. When I have an audio font (MP3, phone, laptop) connected to the AUX physical inputs of the MAIN X32 (the one to receive de ANALOG signales from the stage snake) i'm not able to listen that AUX source on the SECOND X32 console (which is connected via AES50A port) Is there a way to route that aux input via AES50 to the second mixer or I must connect the audio input to ONE of the X32 main console physical inputs? I hope my question is clear and, by advance, thanks again for your response.

I want to use the X32 producer as an interface and to monitor our in-ears, 22 total inputs with the 8 playbacks, at the same time. Can I Send over my signal to the FOH straight with 1 cat5 without the need to get some DI ans interface to process my signal flow ? Sorry if my English is not perfect .. I'm French ... I have a QL5 for FOH directly fed from the RIO3224 Primary Port with a single Cat6 cable. I want to introduce a separate independent mix for broadcast with a mixer like S32 or software based mixing DAW. Knowing that the gain staging from QL5 of FOH could impact on the S32 mixig console for Broadcast, how do I create an independent connnection to the broadcast studio's S32 which is about 80m aware.? If I'm not using S32 hardware, what DAW with live mixing capability will work and give me same result? Looking forward to your reply please. Thanks.

A great tutorial! However would like to know if connecting 2 nos X32 and 2 nos S32 ( or 1 S32, 1 S16??) , will this set up give me more than 16 separate individual monitor mix? I am in need of 24 nos separate mix out! My second question is: if I am finally able to create more than 16 monitor mix by connecting 2 X32s + 2 S32s ( 1 S32, 1 S16) , I am assuming volume control can be done from the master X32 whereas individual mix ( say 1 -24 mix out) can be controlled from both Master and Slave X32s! I just dont want to spend money for costlier mixer-such as Yamaha DM7 that has more mix outs! The above need has come as a band needs 7 stereo IEMs that are consuming all of my monitor mix outs! Drew or anyone, I have a question regarding phantom power. I have two x32 boards synched. I don't have a stage box, my inputs are direct (local) into my front of house board. Outputs from front of house are AES50 going to my broadcast board. All the inputs are working except the phantom power. I have two piano mics and three boom mics that require phantom power. I have phantom power on my front of house as local inputs, but the phantom power will not come on my broadcast board. Amy I missing something in my routing or pre-amp?

I have an X32(house) and an X32C (stream) that I want to run live stream from. I watched your video and this was extremely helpful. However, I still have not been able to successfully get sound out to live steam from the X32C. I have a Behringer U-Phoria UMC22 Audio Interface that I use to transfer livestream audio to the Mac. Can you tell me where you would install the audio interface in the back of the X32C to make it stream out? What settings would I need to change to make this successful? Thank you!

How are we able to access the local aux inputs on the FOH Console with the broadcast console? For Example: If a device utilizes a 1/4" split aux cord to playing music in Aux in 1&2 and it be heard in person through FOH and to be heard online for the broadcast mix.

Okay so I have a question. It’s a two part question, based on the amazing video you just made. Say for example, i have two S32’s and 1 x32. And i wanted to connect both S32 together. Can i; 1- connect both S32 together and use a daw system or to put it simply a computer to control all the new 64 channels or the second half of the new channels if I’m able to connect them together from question one with no problem, can i then 2- connect from the computer to another computer to use something like logic pro as a means to create a broadcast mix or would I have to connect to logic using the original computer controlling the FOH?

Is this the same way if you used your second x32 as MON instead of a Brodcast console?

Just wondering if you could help me out with an issue that I'm trying to fix? Set-up X32 Rack FOH I run another X32 Rack as Stagebox from AES50-A for one side of stage, Also from the same X32 FOH is another Stagebox S16 from AES50-B. Our Drummer uses a P16m from the X32 FOH and all routing for the P16m is done on the FOH console. I would like to add 2 more P16m's with the same configuration as the drummer, via the S16 and the X32 Stagebox. I tried a P16m in the S16 and it works no-worries, BUT when I put the P16m on the X32 Stagebox nothing happens. Is it possible to get the same Configuration from one console and be mirrored to each, I don't understand why if it works on the S16 is should be the same on the X32 Stagebox. AES50 Connections are connected with Cat5e Shielded cables with ethercon connections. and tested Everything has been connected to the Ultranets on each console with Cat5e Shielded cable. and tested Each Console has been tested. I'm pretty sure I have tried every routing possibility, but I NEEED some help Hoping you or anyone can help me out With Thanks Greg

QUESTION. I have an M32R live and it comes with 16 outputs. we are using 4 of those for the PA..... L,C,R ,SUBS . The rest of those channels we use for monitors like in-ears. is there a way to get more monitor channels? (we use behringer powerplay p1)

You got the cable partially Wrong. Shielded cable is correct. You messed up on the category. Cat 5e ONLY. It's in the manual.
