i used to do rhythmic gymnastics last year but i had to quit because i moved and there was no training center near me anymore. i loved this sport. i haven't watched a rhythmic video in 8 months, but i started watching these videos again today and i realized i still love this sport and i miss it dearly. :(

1 year ago i got my daughter to watch this before training one day (it made her cry) because she was finding that her training was getting harder and she didn't think she was getting any better . In the year since she got 5th in state level 3 and is now going into level 6 . she trains about 16 hours a week and believes in herself . I am a proud father of a rhythmic gymnast !!!! thank you gymlisi . rhythmic gymnasts "ROCK"

Oh, and just on a side-note... It's helpful to see sports physical therapists rather than doctors about sports injuries. :) They understand athletes and not only can they tell you what the problem is, but they will (if necessary) also give you sets of exercises to do that will help prevent further injury by strengthening certain parts of your body. :)

to people who say that its best to start at a young age and once you're over 12 and stuff you can do what you could have done if you started rhythmic younger - it doesnt matter how old you are in your teens such as 14, 15, 16, if you have the drive to become a successful rhythmic gymnast, your dreams can come true. yes its better to start young but never stop trying

there is good and bad in every sport , it's not all bad . these gymnasts are legends in their countries and i don't think many of the regret what they have achieved . some coaches don't care to much for their gymnasts and just want results and that is sad . It takes alot of hours of hard training to be successful in this sport as it does in many other sports.

The great thing about rhythmic is you can do it at an older age with less risk of injury then other sports. There are 70 year olds doing yoga complete with splits. Like Dara Torres says, don't put an age limit on your dreams. If you want to try RG go for it!!!

@Rosemereta Believe me...sometimes the pain is unbearable...it hurts so much that you start screaming but the coach won't stop pushing or pulling....and it wasn't just me...all my colleagues were screaming and crying. Before I left I used to throw up before each training due to the fear. I was almost 7 at that time and I refused to practice any other sport for years. I was afraid even to go to the gym class at school...or take swimming lessons.

No way! Like this video says never give up for your dreams!! Maybe if people start late doesn't mean you can't get flexible like them! You just need to work very hard and never give up! Why should age matter, if you work hard you might even get to compete!! Sure maybe if people start late maybe won't be as good as those olympic stars, but you can be a great gymnast on your own!! And accomplish your dreams if you work really really hard!!

If you go to usagym.com, you can buy a dvd that will teach you level 1 skills. You can keep stretching to get your backbend, oversplit, etc. And you can keep searching the usagym.com database to see if an AZ rhythmic club gets started. Then you can buy the next dvd, etc. Then, when you get to college, you can go somewhere near an RG club. That's sort of my plan. :)

they can call it real gymnastics because it is. gymnos is the greek word for gym workout. It's just a different from the artistic gymnastics. Rhythmic has the apparatus in the hand while the artistic gymnastics is done on the apparatus and the floor is one of the apparatus for all forms of gymnastics including sports acrobatics.

I looove watching rhytmic gymnastics and I always wanted to do it (of course I am too old for it now) but when I see these streches and splits, I srsly cannot watch the screen, I know it doesn't hurt them bcs they are used to it but I always have the feeling like their legs are going to break off or something....

Yeah, it sounds like you just tweaked it. In your case, wrapping your knee would probably help because, as I said, this warms the joint and makes it less prone to injury. You can usually find suitable wraps or elastic bandages at local drug stores or sports shops. :) You're smart to think of prevention, because most athletes don't think about their joints' health until after a serious injury occurs, by which point it's too late.

@KrysikN Well this is my first year in rhythmic gymnastics and I am 13 years old. I've never done before anything like this just Latin Dance. I want to tell you that I'm in the class with the little ones and I can do things very easily apart from that I don't have much flexible back. And if anyone else is reading this I would appreciate if you could send me inbox what I must eat and how to make a thin body without big muscles like i was going to the gym! thanks!:)

Well, what kind of injury is it? Because there are many different types for different injuries. Wrapping them only gives them minimum stabilization and keeps the joint warm. It really depends on what type of injury you have. Is it an all-in-one injury or is it chronic? Is it a minor sprain, or something more serious?

no it's not that bad, I did a spin and suddenly it started hurting like hell so I went to the doctor and he said it would go away in 2-3 weeks and it did, so it as nothing serious but still. but I saw that 80% of the girls wear some kind of bandages in training so I thought that would maybe reduce the risk of hurting my knee again.
