my 2023 mazda cx-30 (direct competitor to this Kia Seltos), doesn't have engine auto-start/stop at all. it's so nice.

What dont u like about the start/stop? i thought it saves fuel.

@@kevinchng2491 It saves minimal amount of fuel, it's not worth the added wear and tear on the engine and starter motor. Engines are meant to run and keep running. Continuous stop/start cycles slowly wears down the internals prematurely. Also the stop/start is a safety hazard. The software cannot differentiate you stopping at a red light, stop sign, yield, crosswalk or heavy traffic jam. If you are stopped and the engine shuts off and there's a truck that just lost its brakes and it's coming for you, you might need to get out of the way fast, it takes an extra second or two for the car to start and disengage the brake so you can keep moving. There's no need to turn the car off at a yield sign. You're stopping for maybe 3 seconds to let a car go by. Even at a stop sign, you come to a full stop for 2 or 3 seconds just to have the stupid engine turn off completely. It doesn't make any sense. Now... They COULD improve on the system where it won't shut the car off at a stop or yield sign and will only shut off in very heavy, slow moving traffic or where there's a red light. As of right now on my 2023 Kia Soul LX I keep the business card holding in the switch and it works fine to keep it off.

Almost every vehicle has an engine/CVT issue at some point. KIA fixed theirs effective with the 2022 MPI engines.
