ABOUT ME:
Thanks for visiting my channel, I hope you enjoyed the video! I founded Caterpillar Cross Stitch in 2015 when I tried desperately for months to find a modern baby sampler my mum could stitch for new baby Felicity that would fit in with her simple, contemporary nursery. I love cross stitch, running, baking fruit cakes, drinking gin, eating salted caramel ice cream and most crafts!
See you soon and happy stitching! Sally x

I'm so glad I found your method of railroading. Only one I've seen before is with a laying tool and that seemed to take a lot of time. thanks. You have a pleasant voice for vids.

I learned about this technique last year and it is truly a game changer! They all lay flat and nice as can be. I highly recommemd this technique. After a few stitches you'll be back to your usual speed of stitching.

I'm exited to try this--I usually separate my floss before threading the needle, and use 3 strands on 14 count. But I've struggled with some bumpiness on the 1.5 foot by 2.5 foot piece I just completed in a little over 2 years, and am getting ready to start another large project in a few months. Hope to see the improvement!

This was very helpful! I noticed that you put your needle through the thread in a specific direction. You didn't mention anything about that. So, do you put your needle through the top of the split or do you come underneath?

I have just started a new project in CCS, starting in the middle, 32 ct linen, this is a totally covered project that will be 10 1/2” by 15”, I have an area of about 4”x 3” partially completed, I would like to do your method, do you think it would show, never knew of this stitch, so glad I found it?
@susanparsons5745

Assuming you are talking about the railroad cs method, your project is basicly the same size as mine & yes I started in the middle, didn’t hear of this stitch until I was almost done with that page, from then on I have been using the railroad method on the 2nd half of the cs only, sometimes I forget a stitch or 2 but not concerned, like it because the thread sits much nicer on the cloth. I still adjust an X if I don’t like how it lays.I really don’t a difference probably because I stitch all around a page not from one side to the othe4 or up & down, 32 ct is so small I really am not worried about seeing the difference unless maybe if you check it with a magnifying glass, hope this helps!
