I’ve been prepooing with natural aloe every wash day for the past 6 month and my hair has grown at least an inch a month. It’s a lot of work but it’s definitely worth it. Maybe you can try prepooing and leaving it on overnight then wash the next morning.

Long hair for me will be when my natural hair in its curly state is touching my shoulders all the way around from front to back. That's what I want. I just wanted to take better care of my hair cause I was being ridiculous. Never had a perm but I just fried the front all the time flat ironing it. And letting ppl braid the front too tight when getting extensions and then keeping them in a long time.

I thought I was the only one who was rough with their hair. I attribute this to my lack of patience, but 2021 I’m definitely gonna do better and go back to pre-pooing and dc’ing with heat/steam.

That can be really long too. My longest layer is armpit length when stretched but shrinks up well above my shoulders. If it was resting on my shoulders while shrunken, then I would probably be close to lower back length. I think it depends on your shrinkage. 🤷🏿‍♀️

I have been prepooing for 5 years, the half of my hair still had relaxed ends and the pre pop helped with my new growth. I started doing hot oil treatments and a real game changer was pre pooing with vo5 conditioner and oil. All the moisture I retain is amazing! I stopped doing it last year and I really saw a difference in my hair. My hair isn’t retaining moisture as it should, my hair is very dry, my hair could’ve grown longer, my curls aren’t defined as usual, my hair doesn’t look shiny and healthy like it used to. I did a hot oil treatment and that really helped with moisture, I’m definitely going back to pre pooing. Pre pooing, sealing my hair with black castor oil, oiling my scalp and twist outs helped me reach waist length hair !

I have a tapered TWA so, no I do not want long hair on the sides. My 2021 goal is to deep condition my hair weekly and wash it every 3-5 days to retain moisture. I don't want color but...will put a clear color on to promote shine.

Things that were a game changer for me: 1.Pre poo, 2.Tea rinse (after rinse the deep condioner use a tea rinse and leave it), 3.Style the hair right after the wash is finish, i dont wait for hair dry even a bit. And when it dries i re-wet with the tea rinse). I noticed less breakage.

I’m from Texas, moving back in 2 years, and I understand that heat. When I come home I can deal with my hair down for a day or two and after that it’s up in a puff. I will either cut it when I move back or it will be put in styles that’s tucked away, because that heat ain’t hair friendly.

I think it’s definitely a process especially when you want to try something new. I’m hoping that this is my year. My setback was falling down the stairs and injuring my shoulder last year. I found out that black stylist (natural too) don’t like afro textured hair. I had to cut five inches off from breakage.
