She wanted to get promoted to shift manager and they literally demanded a HS diploma before she could get the position. Before I quit, she told me that she was going to try to do Penn Foster just to get her HS diploma. Despite tenure and a track record of doing assistant manager activities while applying for a shift manager slot.

You don’t need it. It’s worthless. I dropped out over two years ago and this year would’ve been my graduation year. I worked hard for two years and saved up some money and now all of these kids in my grade graduating now are far, far behind. Not only they barely have any money, they also most of them have no real good job experience other than basic places for a few months at most. Where as I worked three jobs in those two years and have three good job experiences on my resume. I used to work at Walmart when I first dropped out, then I became a cook at a restaurant for a year, then now I’m working at a luxury car dealership making pretty decent money for my age. With those 3 jobs I’ve realized somethings. Your employer won’t care if you have a hs diploma or not and from my experience in job interviews they either didn’t ask if I had one or when I told them I dropped out they just didn’t care and were like “it’s okay, it happens” and no further talking goes into it. And I have learned much more valuable life skills in my jobs then I ever learned or would ever learn at school.

A lot of colleges require a high school diploma. Also, if you want to do many things worthwile, such as engineering, lawyer, medicene, etc, you will need both a high school diploma and a college degree from somewhere. Even the military ask that their officers have a college degree.

I got four jobs without a GED. The GED is overrated, and as a former trade job worker who was homeless and poor and now doing white collar work, I learned that trade jobs are not only worthless but overrated and can cause numerous long term problems. Find what works for you.

This is a lie. During my transition from a temp agency to going permanent on a job. The employer asked me for it during the background check. I immediately told them I was working on it and only have one test left on my math and they immediately walked me out the door as if I was a criminal and on my job I was basically in a medical records role, working multiple softwares and my numbers were the highest in my team. They way they asked me to leave I'll never forget that and when I do finish my math I'm going to be so excited to get this past me. Don't be fooled y'all. A diploma is a paper that’s required. A requirement isn’t the same as need. There’s many jobs you can do without Highschool degree but will still require it. Highschool degree is need for education. You need skills and work experience which is what you need for job.

There are kids who probably freak out too much about the "high school experience" or taking AP courses, even though it's not going to matter in a few years. The real world is really different from the academic world. I'm not really college material but I went to college because of the expectations from my family and other people.
