man! this is awesome! If I would have had a tutorial like this I could have realized my freestyle dreams 30 years ago. Looking at pictures in magazines and falling on your face a bunch of times didn't really help me along the way. Never really progressed past riding on the pegs. Keep up the good work! Stay Rad!!!!

I'm 37, and have started getting into flatland. Bought a Colony Apprentice a few years ago, and it's largely been collecting dust. Last week decided to spend at least 4 hours a week practicing flatland, and so far, I've been sticking to it, your videos have been a huge help/inspiration. I'm going to land a decade before the end of the month, because of you.

I think the Apprentice is a great introductory flatland bike, especially to current geometry. And once you start really getting into it you should have a clearer idea of what frame/bars/wheels you might want to run. Consistency is definitely key to learning tricks and seeing noticeable progress. I try and do half an hour a day, but it doesn't always happen. I am glad to hear that these videos can help. That is awesome! Tag me on instagram to show me your decade progress. Nice one🤙

Making it look too easy man! Love it. I’ve wanted to get into flatland ever since I was little. I’ll have to do some research to see what bikes and other stuffs to use.

I reckon, if you are just starting, virtually any bmx will be good. Pegs on the front and rear are perhaps the main thing you may need. Personally I'd run brakes initially. These will help you learn the foundation skills, and then once you start progressing you'll soon know whether or not to remove them. I have a curated list of tutorial videos on my website as well as in a playlist here on youtube. Enjoy 🤙

I am inspired! 45 and my knee won't let me do hard jumps any more. This looks low impact enough, when not falling, that I am getting a bike for flatland :) thanks for the great teachins!

That is great news! Bummer about your knee, though. I have found with my knees, lots of painful deep tissue massage on the ITB, Quads, Glutes, and Aductors. This helps considerably! And yeah, with flat you don't fall quite so far. Though it does still hurt when you land on the end of the handlebars/pedals/pegs… Take care, man 🤙

Great detailed tutorials for beginners! I wished I had these kind of tutorials back in the 80's. It probably would have made learning tricks a lot easier.

Ah yes, very quick response after the comment. Thanks bud. I am decent going fakie, but am going to start more with practicing some of these. Also, once I can get a few things, I would like to post a short riding video.

Im almost there with the landing...can do the fork glide..can do it not holding the seat...just have to keep that balance so i can put a foot on the top tube and ride out. 4 weeks ago i was just comfortable standing on the pegs.. Your video is very very helpful.

Is it practical to start flatland bmx with a park specific bike that isn't a flatland frame??
@bmxbanditdude
@bmxbanditdude Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Any bmx with pegs is a great starting point. Look at learning fakies, peg wheelies on the front and back wheel as a start 🤩🤙

How important to you think core strength is to riding BMX tricks?
@bmxbanditdude
@bmxbanditdude 2 жыл бұрын
It is vital. Strength as well as being able to move. Flexibility is also vital. Are you able to touch your toes? 🤙
@knightwatchgames
@knightwatchgames 2 жыл бұрын
@@bmxbanditdude I can. My flexibility is pretty good, but I've found my upper body strength is less than I need. On boomerangs, or flails, my triceps really shake. But, the more I ride, the stronger I'm getting. It's just so painful the next day, haha.
