I’m going to say this as a lady who is about to give out her unwanted and rather crass opinion (and please absolutely do not care about my opinion at all fellas because I’m not paying your bills), but big legs on a guy usually signals to me that he knows how to pound you into the mattress and it’s going to be good.

Things that are easier when athletic: 1: Lifting weights at the gym 2: moving furniture 3: push starting a care 4: carrying groceries 5: carrying luggage 6: carrying your kids 7: making a bed 8: labour work (brick laying, landscaping... 9: obstical course (jump,climb,run,hang.... 10: playing games with your kids,friends 11: getting certain jobs cause you look like a hard worker and fit. 12: getting laid 😉 13. Chasing things down 14: swimming 15: UNDERSTANDING what your body is truly capable of, and being 1 big step closer to being a real man. The list goes on. But, suffice to say athleticism is STILL VERY IMPORTANT in today's society.

Got estrogen dominance? Why? Now that's the $10,000 question, isn't it. Morley Robbins has the best hypothesis I've heard, and he pulled it from the scientific literature. Estrogen is apparently and anti-oxidant measure the body uses when ferro-oxidase, an expression of the ceruloplasmin-bound copper enzyme, is low. IOW, it is a sign that bio-copper is low, and bio-copper is so important in the human body that doctors never hear the word in their training! It energizes cytochrome c oxidase to split oxygen to make Mg-ATP, which is the true energy molecule for cellular function. It manages iron as ferro-oxidase. It powers all oxidase enzymes. Lysyl oxidase makes the precursors for collagen and elastin, and is necessary for optimal connective tissue (including blood vessels!) in the human body. Look up cupro-enzyme and all the oxidase enzymes to see what bio-copper does. Now, where is copper in the SAD diet? Note that GMO glyphosate chelates copper to below the pH of stomach acid. HFCS blocks copper absorption. Copper reductase bacteria are wiped out with antibiotics. Retinol is required to load what little copper is available into ceruloplasmin, but hormone D supplements obliterate retinol status, not to mention magnesium status. ATP7B, the enzyme that loads copper into ceruloplasmin, needs both retinoic acid and magnesium to load the copper. Hyper estrogenemia, aka, men with more and more feminine characteristics, just may be a sign of bio-copper depletion, iron overload in the tissues, silent oxidative stress overload, and silent inflammation overload. Iron is NOT measured in the tissues for a reason, even though it can be 10x higher in the tissues per the legendary science researcher Bruce Ames (Rhonda Patrick's mentor, and previously the most quoted scientist on planet Earth).

I think the topics you discussed in this video are of a much deeper source than what's presented at face value. Men in today's day and age are indeed thinking and behaving subtlety feminine. Be it in their behaviors or ideologies. I dont have a clue where this force that is overtaking masculinity is coming from, but it is coming full speed ahead. Greg's video and many others alike are just the cause of this twisted view to pedalize (I know it's not a word, but just roll with it) masculine beauty that in fact is doing more harm than good. Strange times indeed.

The reputation of powerlifters is just kinda bad, however the really competitive ones are usually damn lean to fit in their weight class with as much muscle mass as possible. Most so called "powerlifters" are just too lazy to care about fitting into a weight class, which is ok, it's much easier to become strong while being fluffy instead of caring about their diet and putting in even more effort to stay lean as long as you're not trying to be competitive.

I lift just for the mere purpose to help other people, for example: manual work. Other reasons, is to be ready in a dangerous situation. In addition, "looking like you lift" is just something that doesn't need that much attention in your training . Lifting to look good, but doing nothing(functional) with does muscles, is just a waste of time in the gym.
@EnkiriElite

@Peter Hofmann anything you see Eric kanevsky do.
@Mazakoton
@Mazakoton 5 жыл бұрын
@peter hofman Not so much that exercises have or don't have function. It is more a matter of "muscle importance". People do alot of isolation and "pump work", instead of focusing on prime movers, working compound movements, etc. Example: Newbies taking a whole "arm day". Yes, there is function in performing curls, however, in the spectrum of becoming more muscular, powerful, athletic, etc., curls are "unfunctional" in the sense that they offer very little value, especially for someone that has been working out for less than a year or two
@Mazakoton
@Mazakoton 5 жыл бұрын
@Peter Hofmann Right. To your example; I prioritize rotator cuff work over arms. I throw in a set of RC work every other couple of sets of my main lifts; which are primarily compound movements, and olympic variations. But overall, lifting to be as functional as possible, has made my body look better than ever before. Lol. Kinda ironic.. But cool with me.
@Mazakoton
@Mazakoton 5 жыл бұрын
@Peter Hofmann I love that method. I'm kind of inspired by the Chinese weightlifters and their "assistance" work methods. It does vary greatly from person to person, I agree. Different sports requiere different training focus. I had elbow pain about a year ago, then I started doing more forearm and grip work. I also learned I am bicept dominant, and benefit from prioritizing tricep work in order to balance myself out. The pain has now vanished completely.. People look to see at what other people are doing too much, and don't self-assess to find out what it is that THEY need to do to achieve their goals, with their body structure/composition.

Not 100% on board with the notion that fixation on aesthetics is feminine, but I do agree that it is certainly unhealthy psychologically and physiologically. Like you outlined, aesthetics are subjective and investing so much time thinking about it is really just wasted efforts. Furthermore, the very reason lifters choose to pursue aesthetics is to attract the opposite sex, who seem to not care all that much about meticulous details like proportions. It's diminishing returns really, you'll spend countless more hours achieving some sort of muscle ratio deemed "aesthetic" by lifters to be met with little to no returns on attracting the opposite sex. This obsession leads itself to very real and dangerous mental afflictions like bigorexia. I am a university student that heavily depends on mental focus and performance, and I simply cannot afford to taint the efficacy of my mind with this kind of thinking. Physiologically, many lifters introduce many physical problems and imbalances in the pursuit of aesthetics. How many gym bros have you seen walking around shoulders hunched their rotator cuffs just waiting to snap? Because appearance is the sole objective of these lifters, it is futile for them to achieve muscle balance and do the proper assistance exercises to maintain healthy joints and mobility. But if you are training for performance, these stretches and boring exercises directly benefit your lifts and will help you in the long run.
@EnkiriElite
@EnkiriElite 5 жыл бұрын
Very astute observation. I agree with pretty much everything you said. And in regard to your final point, like I mentioned in the video, training solely for "aesthetics" will inevitably lead to some questionable training decisions at some point or another.

A bit late to the party, but: Aesthetically speaking, it’s about illusion. Your legs don’t ‘feminine’, but the thing is that creating an aesthetic set of legs making sure your lower legs are also proportionally large. But that’s about it. Your quads are fantastic man. Keep it up.

After I'll be squatting for a decade I damn well want to have stupidly disproportionate huge looking legs, despite still training my upper body. More as a trophy than anything after having so many grueling squat training sessions. But yeah I don't think I would have trained my lower body if I trained mainly for looks. It always feels like the lower body training session is where the epic shit happens. Upper body training is really easy by comparison, so even if it's not as exciting it's "easy" to put in the work and effort without having any badass goals like becoming a beast.

Everything can be subjective and objective at the same time. Like performance, aesthetics can also be defined around some objective parameters (body fat percentage, body measurements, weigth, and so on). Also, performance is always relative to a task. Running faster, for example, just means you run faster, but doesn't necessarily make you a better athlete, unless your sport is running. So it all depends on what you choose to improve and measure. Finally, there isn't an objective criteria that determines why it's "better" to focus on performance than on aesthetics; that's also a subjective decission. If you ask me, in the end any kind of improvement, whether it be in performance or aesthetics, is ultimately driven by the ego, and so it's equaly "subjective", in the sense that you are the one who chooses to care about one thing over another. But no thing is "objectively" better. Thinking that you are better because you look better is as stupid as thinking that you are better because you are stronger, faster, or because you perform better. They're all just random subjective criteria. Looking better just means that you look better, and performing better just means you perform better; nothing more, nothing less. Everyone can be "better" than the rest, they just have to choose the right criteria. We should stop thinking that we are better, in a general sense, just because we do certain things better.

I use to let achieving an aesthetic look be my focus for the first 2+ years of training, but for the past year or so it's been for strength and powerlifting, and I personally have noticed better development overall once I finally put in the work consistently in my training and nutrition to hit a 3 plate bench, 4 plate squat and 5 plate deadlift at 175-180 lbs max bodyweight with 3 + years total training, I also wasted some time too with super light pump workouts, I still get a crazy pump after my heavier sessions on assistance work but I'll never go back to the way I use to train. building strength and performance is what truly keeps me motivated. I was losing motivation when I just wanted to look good.

This is really funny, but the scary truth is that there is truth to this. Estrogen is the body's plan B to manage oxidative stress when bio-copper becomes low. Iron overload and metallic copper both drive bio-copper (ceruloplasmin-bound copper) lower. Guess what makes up "the pill"? Inorganic metallic copper is in the pill, and inorganic metallic iron is in the fake "placebo." Ouch. More information can be found from Morley Robbins and Dr. Rick Malter. Morley Robbins - My Theory Of Everything -- kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f9dpZ7WAp5vVdac.html Understanding Copper Toxicity (same as iron overload): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h9-GZ7eYvamrc2Q.html BTW, 100% of a baby's epigenetics comes from its mother. If the mother take birth control, some of the remnants of the those pills do get transferred to both male and female babies, and every generation gets worse.

Whether your goals are power or aesthetics, or any culmination of the two, an emphasis on functionality, balance, and mobility are paramount. Even Arnold's Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding discusses in detail how important powerlifting and compound movements are, both in terms of their anabolic and metabolic effects, but also the aesthetic advantages gained by doing those types of exercises (ie. they facilitate a much more dense appearance in the muscle, and improve greatly the force and intensity at which a muscle can contract). Personally, and this is purely anecdotal and subjective, I think men classically like muscles much more than women, and one of the most consistent complaints I've heard from women about male physiques is "chicken legs". In closing train your damn legs! No one gives a fuck what your legs look like and the benefits are enormous.

I want to disagree with you, but then I asked myself "in a world where aesthetics didn't matter, or somehow the ideal male physique actually was the 'dad bod' would I still lift?" and the answer is absolutely yes My favorite thing is feats of strength, so in a world where aesthetics were utterly pointless I might do a bit less chest training and I would probably shoot for around 20% or more body fat all year round so I could do the feats of strength better. But otherwise my training wouldn't be that different
@MrAwseal
@MrAwseal 5 жыл бұрын
So this might be a reach but I think you could make the argument that “big legs” (which is subjective) is feminine if you factor in that on average women’s strength are more leg dominant were men’s strength tend to be more a 50/50 split. Now I know kinobody didn’t think this deep into it but we could still find relevancy in this statement.
