Hi there, Liron here! In today’s vid I want to show you how the subject matter itself is NOT the only factor in deciding on a painting process and planning the painting.
What’s more important is what you recognize in every specific reference.
And so - I’ll show you 3 paintings I did for my 100 cars challenge. All cars, BUT the work process for each is very different, and is really dependent on what I PERSONALLY RECOGNIZED in the reference, and the thing that attracted me to painting it.

I'd like to hear you talk more about how the subject isn't important, because once I heard that, all of a sudden I see subjects all around my house because I'm not concerned with composing anything, because the subjects aren't important. That frees me up to just paint them on a whim.

Thanks Liron. Food for thought for me. I took a photo yesterday of sudden sunshine through our living room window which highlighted a bit of curtain and sofa. Two bright points of light and flowerpots outside. You said the subject matter isn’t important. So this is my next challenge.

The subject matter at least gives a unity to a series such as this series of cars and I would love to see some "anti-glamourous" portraits of cars, showing them with damage and wear and being what they are in reality as opposed to being "dream machines" as they are represented in publicity shots. Anyway, thanks for your very punchy videos.
