Talk’s Cristo Foufas, broadcaster Clare Muldoon and former Labour spokesman James Matthewson discuss Labour’s first seven days in power, after a landslide victory.
The panel discuss the party’s policy towards gender ideology, plans to release prisoners early to ease overcrowding, and England reaching the final of Euro 2024.
They also touch on comments in 2016 by now-Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who suggested biological men can grow a cervix.
Clare tells James: “Your party can’t acknowledge the existence of women.”
James responds: “I’m not going to engage with you on the gender debate.”

instead of asking 'what is a woman' ask: what are the consequences of changing the definition of woman from 'adult human female' to 'anyone who says they are'? And who benefits from those consequences vs. who loses? The answer is very clear: the consequences are dire, and only women suffer - while transidentifying males and predatory men benefit. So: the question is not whether transwomen ‚are women‘, the question is: should we change the definition of woman? NO. Transpeople can have protections without a semantic trick that harms women and girls across all areas of their lives.
