I’m 5 months loc’d (traditional) and your end statement is 1000% accurate! That freedom and loving yourself exactly how you come has been the most freeing part about this journey. The peace is real once you finally accept yourself truly and let go of the expectations you have about your hair.

In addition to the freedom and self-love, I genuinely think my locs are beautiful every single day since I installed them one year ago. I have hardly felt more beautiful in any other hairstyle before.

You’re speaking nothing but facts. That’s all this is for me. I see other women and they’re just wearing their hair. They get up and go. Ofc they may style it but the braids. Wigs. Puffs. Twist outs. Just all this crap. I don’t want to shave my head. I want my hair but as it is. I don’t want to think about it constantly. I love doing my hair. I have been doing it for years. I’m over it time to take care of my health. Chase down my dreams. I’m ready for a new phase of life. Like you said it’s me. This is all that’s coming lol. I love you for this. I literally just checked your page not too long ago for an update!lol So I’m glad to see you did this one. I’m 10 months microloc’d and also want to keep my coily ends and as 4C girly I was questioning keeping it up but you just persuaded me to wait it out and see how the process goes!
