Honestly - my first question about the identical twin research is, who funded it? Does the money trail show the potential of a conflict of interest. Veganism and vegan diets today have so many advertised and scientifically proven benefits from reducing costs, reducing environmental impact, reducing greenhouse gas emissions to now helping us live longer. We all know that there are no silver bullets in life for solving all of life’s problems. In fact, I’m sure we’d all agree, that when something sounds too good to be true, it often is. While I’d love to think that I can save the world, and add years to my life, by simply going vegan, I can’t help but distrust this advice because it sounds too good to be true. As such, circling back to my initial thought, who paid for the research, and is there a conflict of interest?

Not sure where “killing animals for fun” comes in here. Certainly isn’t my idea of fun at all, quite the opposite, I find that view utterly repulsive personally. My concern is that the science is being tainted by vested interests, when was the last time you saw science concluding that a vegan diet is preferable, being funded by the meat industry? It just doesn’t happen, because it’s counter to their interests. Same on the flip side when it’s funded by vegans, and animal rights activists. We can’t blame the scientists for this of course, they need the funding, not only to do the research, but to put food on the table for their families. So if PETA are funding research into vegan diets and their effect on longevity, well, it pays the bills right? But ultimately it just becomes a case of political viewpoints being inserted into science, and when this happens we all suffer (flashbacks to covid antivaxers *shudder*), as the objective truth cannot be established and agreed upon for the greater good of our society as a whole.

Humans are all omnivores, vegetarian/vegan/pescatarian is a choice. Only eating meat doesn't have a name because you would be rather stupid to do so when our stomachs need plants- dogs can do this, because they have the opposite type of digestion,and of course they can eat plants too, but less so. This and every other study says the healthiest eat fish and veg, but vegans/veggies are still healthier than those who eat both meat and veg.

@@LaciRae I said as much, yes, but they can survive on just meat, they would never survive on plants alone. Same with us, but flipped. We're just special and can actually live healthily only eating plants, instead of merely existing. My point about dogs was mostly for _those_ types of people, y'know, who think they can make their dog vegan. If anything, you can have them eat just meat, but never a vegan diet, it would kill them. Just like how if we only ate meat we'd likely die within a year, no matter what TikTok might tell some people. But yeah, to live longer, they definitely need the nutrition carrots and peas for example would give them, but people need to be very careful, because their weak stomachs can't tolerate lots of things- herbs, spices, garlic, onions, grapes, chocolate, spinach, tomato, the list goes on and on...always check before giving your dog anything that isn't meat.

Im sorry but i did not really get a very clear answer here? it feels like it was all just build up to go to the sponsor. and also, something that vegans lack in is maximizing nutrient intake. veggies don't give enough protein and certain vitamins, along with multiple fats and other usefull chemicals which are found richly in meats. meat shouldn't be consumed the way we do it now, but removing it from your diet would be equally worse.
@inventorbrothers7053

I agree there are benefits to eating meat as you point out, but protein for example can be supplemented instead through legumes (beans). Especially through concentrated forms such as pea protein "meat" and soybean protein "meat." Where "meat" refers to non-animal derived meat-like substitutes. However I appreciate the counter argument, as I feel this topic is more complex than is presented.

Yes, but there’s layers to it. You can take supplements. You can drink milk and eat eggs only. Or just cut out red meat. I am curious which is best for health. Sad this video doesn’t provide an answer
@baseder514
@baseder514 3 ай бұрын
@@inventorbrothers7053 with protein I do not only mean the stuff to build your body with. Proteins that stimulate your body for example. You can see the difference in men who eat meat and those who dont, because those who dont show less signs of manlihood. I do not know the English word for it, but basically their body grows less hair, slows down muscle production and they also have less energy. This is very common to see in poor areas where they cannot eat alot of meat. And with meat I mean anything that comes from animals except for the bones, eyes and other hard parts. The organs especially are very good for us, unless you have allergy, then it is very bad.
@beththedarkmage3359
@beththedarkmage3359 3 ай бұрын
Vegetarians don't need supplements, this is misinformation. Meat isn't what's needed, it's animal products- if you stop eating dairy and eggs, you will lack B12, which you can take supplements for, but it would be more ideal to eat it. Protein isn't so low as you'd think. The average Vegetarian eats a protein rich diet with things such as chickpeas, lentils, beans, spinach, animal products, nuts, seeds, avocados, brussel sprouts, peas etc. It's also not super needed in anything but minimal amounts unless you are a grandparent fighting lots of illness or someone who is going to the gym to get strong- fibre, energy and iron are top priority here, all of which, you guessed it, are typically found in plants. As for fats, there are no fats in animals needed that aren't found in plants. Most of your good fats in food can be easily sourced by avocados, nuts and seeds. Same for magnesium, which plant based people could admittedly eat more, but they can, they just aren't so aware. Iron is something I was more deficient in while eating meat than I was being vegetarian. Yes, you can get it from meat, but it's most common in red meats, which are a bit of a roll of the dice when it comes to the harm they can do. You're best off varying your diet and getting it from various sources, or just, y'know, eating a lot of beans and spinach. For me, I drink Guinness too, lol, but rarely and only at events. And of course all of this stuff you say meat is good for, fish is actually best. Cod liver oil, omega 3, protein, fibre, magnesium, zinc, iron, potassium, vitamins A through K, they're all in fish...and lots of people only eat fish and plants, they live the longest. All that to say, no, removing meat isn't a negative. Yes, meat eaters can be healthy, but most aren't eating as well as vegetarians, vegans and most importantly, pescatarians. Maybe they could make more ideal choices, but even so, they'd be behind, according to virtually every study on this. Meat has no benefits plants or dairy can't provide with less of the risks. What is truly needed for the longest life possible is fish oils, though not necessary to live a long life in general- pescatarians live the longest. In second place is vegans, because cheese is kind of a vegetarian's weakness, lol.
@baseder514
@baseder514 3 ай бұрын
@@beththedarkmage3359 what I want you to see is that meat is used to grow or to make something stronger. And when I said what I mean with meat, I also mean fish, unless fish is not animal? for people who are still growing or need to have a strong body, meat is needed because it is much more dense in the things you need, with less of the things you do not need. and most of problems from meat, mostly red meat from cow, are found in people who eat but move not much. if you look at people who only eat meat, you can see that the whole of day they are moving around doing things. you do not need it to live, yes, but if you want to be usefull, and not have to move on your own pace, you have not much choice. and yes, animal produce like milk egg and cheese is good too, but not as dense as the real meat. and also, you say that meat eaters can be healthy, but most do not eat as well as vegeterians? maybe it is because they do not care and just grab what is easy? I mean if choice is between 2 dollar hamburger vs 15 dollar for salad, I can see that people choose something that gives them more energy. we live in society that makes it hard to eat meat in a good way, so now we have problem from something that should not be problem.

@@liamvance966firstly the study was funded by an animal advocacy group, secondly the study didn’t account for the weight loss associated with vegan diet, which can explain the lower LDL. It is common knowledge that any type of weight loss - including those on a carnivore diet - LDL decreases (which was the main identifier they used). The study even acknowledges that the carnivore group ate +\- 500 calories. Meat is more calorie dense, so I would imagine it is falling on the + side. Every participant within the vegan group lost weight.
