Kagetsu deserves more recognition because he is basically the best physical unit in the game. You just have to second-seal him into a different class because swordmaster isn't good and then he will automatically be amazing. I put him in bow knight and I've heard he works great in wyvern rider. With a forged and possibly engraved killer weapon, he gets over 70% crit, and he is so fast that he doubles like everything.

Honestly if you can't make Anna work that's a team comp issue and/or a skill issue. She 's a growth unit in a game where all the beginning units they give you are replaceable, give her Micaiah and a hand axe and thats all the utility you need to get her going. Once you get Byleth, Sage Anna is an easy mvp. The fact that so many people have been able to do this and reap the benefits (cuz the numbers don't lie) makes me wonder what other people who say Anna sucks are doing. Get way more yields than Framme or Clanne could even dream of contributing.

Definitely surprised by Anna cause after 3 playthroughs I haven't seen a unit that can compare magic wise and I find her to come online very quickly with micaiah

Hey, K.nDo here. Thought I’d give some reasoning on my character tier list here. Etie is my fav unit (if u couldn’t tell) if I was to rank her honestly I would put her one behind alcryst in A tier. She is a lot better than what people give her credit for. Anna isn’t too hard to get xp on if u leave jean’s paralogue until after Anna’s. U just have her healbot a green unit on that map with miciah and boom level 10 in axe fighter. I know celine is good I just have a hard time keeping her alive throughout the mid game, this is based of multiple play throughs too. Zelkov is just a better yunaka with less investment needed which is why he is S and she is A. I ranked vander top of D because of his early game utility but couldn’t place him in C because of his fall of. And I think that’s everything he talked about. Any more questions u have I will try to answer in the replies

This was definitely a fun video 😂 I do think I agree with the Tier-ers that put Yunaka above Zelkov though. Even if they’re maybe the same tier, I think she’s a bit better purely because one of the main counters to covert units is enemy mysticals (usually sages), and Zelkov just melts to them with how bad his Res stat is

Can you sell Master Seals in this game? I never see them in the list of items to sell. Also, thanks for spreading the Framme is underrated message. She's definitely not amazing, but she can be super useful throughout most of the game.

Also frame is so underated even outside the qi adept memes. I did get a wyrven for maddening and was a good tomahawk bot

I think your reluctance to invest in growth units makes you too harsh on them. I think Anna deserves to be placed as a mid-tier unit (as triabolical did in his list) It's just that you, personally, would probably think something like, "I don't want to spend a bunch of time on a unit that ends up being just decent"

Make Anna a mage and she’s god tier. Her magic growth is the highest in the game and giving her dire thunder will allow her to double guaranteed. People think Anna is bad because she starts as a borderline unusable physical unit but she can be the best magic nuke with minimal investment. A master seal to a second seal to sage or mage knight is all she needs to get going.

I don’t get putting Jean in lower tiers just because he’s a growth unit; the fact that he’s a staff user in a game where staves are really good makes him _much_ easier to get caught up than most growth units. Considering how early he joins, it doesn’t take long for him to catch up, either. If Jean has to be “babied,” than I could argue that nearly every healer in the series, including Framme, has to be babied to be good. Jean basically starts squishy even by healer standards in exchange for being incredibly good at higher levels. Now if only he had a personal skill.

I don't really see her being lower than Celine tbh but that might be slight hyping her up. The Zelkov/Yunaka waifu bias is funny though as a Yunaka fan myself. Good stuff as usual. Edit meme: I like... always end up dropping Jean on maddening but Anna kinda never felt hard to use and she turns into a hard carry that gives money. Idk opinions are opinions.

I think you're definitely overestimating Vander. Firstly, early maps are actually quite easy in Engage, Chloe and Louis absolutely pop off in the earlygame, not to mention Alear being just such a no brainer candidate to funnel kills to. Besides that, his combat is barely any better than others, his real boon is his hp, his str wont one shot (Hell sometimes its not enough to feed kills), his speed is horrible, his defence and res are okayish, and his dex leaves him with nasty hit rate issues. On top of that, Engage is one of the only games where kills are such a commodity that a Jagen killing things actually does have negative consequences. This may change with the well update, but getting a non alear unit to 1k sp for Canter before chapter 10 is actually tough (My Level 3 Griffon Chloe was just a few sp short) As another nitpick, Emblem Alear is super strong. Perhaps I'm biased since I used it on Ivy, a god in human skin, but being able to have this magical nuke with speedtaker suddenly become obscenely tanky and evasive turned brutal maps into Birthright. With dragons Fist she would consistently hit over 100 damage on even decent res bosses like Marth and Zephia, and would face hitrates below 10 from most if not all enemies. Also the action granting Alear an extra move has some really cool uses but it is difficult to plan.

Glad to see the Framme respect. I really like her except for when it comes to interactions with Alear She’s always a strong staple for me as my bonded shield abuser. She actually one rounds fairly consistently with flashing fist+lunar brace so she also has damage on top of utility

I never took much to Wolf Knight. Seemed a bit lacklustre. I got fed up of it and swapped Merrin to Paladin. At which point she went nuts.

Idk why u under appreciate Timerra so much ? Idk if u used her, but she’s an incredible tank that thanks to sandstorm and a solid dex stat, also is an offensive beast- especially with a brave lance

I have to disagree about anna and jean. I think anna is pretty low investment. She’s a backup unit which is good and can use axes for two range (still not too great cuz axes) but she can promote right into warrior and do good damage with the shining bow. And you don’t really have to baby jean at all cuz he can just be heal bot who chain guards then be a pretty good high priest (or martial master).

I'm doing a run to see how strong all the horrible units are (On normal). The xp gain is so much more than maddening it's not even funny. Anyway Boucheron is really interesting as I never leveled him but at level 1 berserker he's doing over 120 damage (21 strength + brave axe+4). I have marth on him and Marth's attack at half damage after the first attack does 13x2. . . I was going to meme train him but at the moment he looks very usable in maddening. I'll see what comes after he loses Marth though because that +3 speed really saves him. (Speed at 15 in maddening isn't too bad.) My next maddening run I'm using Alear as a healer. If you don't use him enough he falls behind fast.

See but now we can critique your tier list critiques Anna and Jean are the first growth units not named Donnell that pay off with so so investment. I personally wouldn't run both and I prefer Anna because she just heals/obstructs for 5 levels. Toss Framme because the only class Framme isnt outclassed by mid game units is Martial Master. Mage knight Anna hits the bench marks for a maddening mage to one shot almost everything. Though her passive kind of got worse with the free resources in updates and especially now with the well Jean you can do something similar with, or make him cracked by waiting until after gaining access to second seals for his chapter. But it's a bit more planning, and routing in the beginning is annoying anyways

My hot take is Alear is solidly S tier. Along with dragon utility and decent combat Alear has protagonist privileges. Perfect availability. Force deployed so don't have to give up a deployment slot. Really good personal skill giving adjacent allies +3 atk. Can support with everyone so will give and receive bonuses with any adjacent ally. Access to the convoy effectively gives Alear infinite inventory space. Some pretty decent personal weapons.

Is Anna good as a mage?

I don’t understand why people like Celine. I’ve tried her on maddening and hard, fixed and unfixed, yet she always comes up lacking. She’s a great filler unit cause she can do a bit of everything, but any actual role can be filled better by another unit. What am I missing?

Lvy is a fan favourite character but in battle she is very underwhelming

I've been calling Erika slept on for the longest time. You engage and you get +5 damage, -5 damage taken, 100% activation player phase sol AND Luna, and an effective weapon against most of the enemy units? How did anyone think this was bad?

I want to like Timerra, but her stat spread is honestly garbage. She's too slow to double most enemies, but her attacks aren't nearly powerful enough to compensate. She has a somewhat high defense growth, but it isn't nearly high enough to have her tank a few hits. I mean, sure, Alfred is not a great unit, not at all, but at least he is good at something and works well with Ike instead of being mediocre at everything he does.

Y'know, this is why I didn't make one.

Vander is F outside of the easy tutorial chapters = F overall, don't waste engage ring sp gain on him. If you don't think Anna is at least A tier then you've never used her as a magic class. No offense but you have to be pretty bad at the game to struggle so much that you can't "baby" units in the early chapters to get them some early level ups enough to be useful.

Liking lapis and goldmary more than timerra is a fucking joke lol
